I, too, expected Reapers, not Fates.

Fate DOES hate the Winchesters, and the Winchesters are a bit... prettier than they are smart sometimes. You can't blame the Angel of Exposition for that.

Castiel is the WORST LIAR EVER. Too bad Dean's too busy reasserting his heterosexuality after Balthazar's insinuation earlier in the episode to notice.

Awwww, I think you're right about Cas feeling guilty about everything. The way he poofed right after flat-out lying about Balthazar sinking the ship. The whole thing where Cas rearranges the universe to save the Winchesters will never get old, but once again, he needs hugs. I am glad Balthazar got to have fun this episode ("Awkwaaard!") but maaan, seeing Ellen back reminded me how awesome she was. And she's so great with Bobby! SIGH.

Also, many hilarious Dean-faces and "What, too soon?" "Yeah, I think six seconds is too soon." Heee. But mostly: THE OTHER ANGEL. THE ONE IN THE DIRTY TRENCHCOAT WHO'S IN LOVE WITH YOU. Yessss.
