Um, sure I'll think of something later.

Joe's surgery went well. They even found a set of crutches for a 6' 6" man! True, that is as tall as the set goes, but still. :-) I told him it was a good thing he stopped at 6 1/2 feet.  Putting his shoe on him was an adventure though.  The nurse assured me they have trouble with that often.  I told her that I never had any trouble putting shoes on our babies.

"It's different," she said.

"Yeah," I said.

We got home and I spent two hours getting his pain meds filled.  Why, you ask.  Because it was supposed to snow overnight so everyone had to be on the streets and in the stores, getting prepared.  I mostly just wanted to get home and stay home, put on my pj's, wrap up in a blanket, drink some hot cocoa and just be.  Alone.

This dream was completely shattered when I got to my mom's to pick up my kids.  She'd picked them up from school for me, took them home with her, and fed them dinner.

After finally getting them out the door and loaded into my Expedition, this is what happened, "I said I got shotgun!"

"You didn't say it fast enough!  Besides, NO!"

"I can't see!  I can't put my seat belt on when I can't see!"

"Stop.  Mom!  He won't get his leg off me!"

I then got in a few words,  "Turn that light off!  I can't see the road!"

More screams, more whines and finally I straightened my back bone and got totally into MOM mode.  I said, very mean-like and very much like I totally meant it,  "If any of you open your mouth again, if it snows tonight, you will NOT be playing in it.  Swear to you, you'll be on the inside looking out!"

My two youngest zipped it.  My oldest? Ha!  She waited maybe a minute and said, "I don't think we're planning to play in the snow tomorrow."

I've noticed that she speaks with the royal "We" often now.  The royalty of course is her friends.

Right at this very moment, she just stumbled past me, just now rolled from her royal bed.  It's 11 o'clock here.  I have no idea if plans have changed.  I'm sure she'll tell me if "We" decide the snow is something worth entertaining "Us" with today.

By late last night, Joe had already abandoned his crutches and I'm afraid my two hour wait for the pain meds is going to turn out a waste of time.  He doesn't think he'll be needing them.

I'll be reading the Make Meredith Read Again entries in the next few days.  Good luck to everyone who entered!

family stuff, winter
