NCIS 6x03 Capitol Offense

Oct 09, 2008 21:45

I haven't updated in forever, and given my life at the moment, I'm unlikely to update again anytime soon. However, I went to respond to a friend's post about the latest NCIS episode and found that I had so much to say that I way overdid the character limit, so I'm sticking it here ( Read more... )

Apropos of nothing, I see we both have Grey's Anatomy listed as an interest as well - are you still watching it ( ... )

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. My Internet went down this weekend (I was in withdrawal! It was not a pretty sight...) and then I had to work on things for Open House yesterday. I should be still working on things for Open House (nothing like waiting for the last minute, as it is Thursday!), but everyone needs a break once in awhile, right? *grin*

Yes, but I'm not entirely sure why, as it really hasn't been good since the second season. I do like the new character, though, even if the old ones are irking me, so I'll continue to watch, just to see where it goes.

Now I thought Vance had more of a place in AA than in this episode - at least up to the point where he met the Senator.I'll grant you that. I think I just retconned that Senator = political case = need for director, forgetting that the Senator wasn't known from the start ( ... )

No worries at all. Bad internet, I know exactly how you must have felt. And yes, everyone does need a break. Open House? It can't be the same Open House which I know of. ::Curious::

We came close to giving up on this, but felt it perked up after the writers' strike - they clearly had to condense stuff - and so far the new season (well once we got to the second half of the double ep) has been promising.

And I can understand being irked that the Director is being ( ... )

So I have the entire weekend and when do I start writing back? 10:30 pm on Sunday. Anyway...

Open House as far as schools go is basically a "meet the teacher" night and see what your child does in school all day. We put out typical activities, and I arranged a schedule (7 pages!) of our day and pages about each of our activities and what the kids are learning as they "play". (If you care, the child in the upper right of the second picture wearing the dark shirt and skirt is the Israeli.)

GA: So what are you thinking about the Denny plot? Sigh. I think the only thing I like right now is Dr. Hunt. (I mean the intern club?!?!)

It was because he was intelligent that he had to over-complicate it.
Maybe, maybe I can possibly see that. At least you agree the phone thing is weird.

Of course. I believe you. *Nods* Really, I do.
Good to hear that. I'd hate to have to do anything... drastic.

Sadly, I think you should *sigh* A great shame. But I don't wanna! *stamps foot* (And, apparently, given my reaction to the last episode, I am ( ... )

The thing about McGee's clothes did occur to me too - it just didn't get as far as the review. I thought that very thing and yet, having said that, we do have an ep from last season (I think, having just watched the entire show from beginning to end it could have been S4 and I don't know 3, 4 and 5 as inside out as 1 & 2) when Gibbs tells McGee to change his shirt and McGee asks DiNozzo for one of his and DiNozzo being DiNozzo takes the shirt off he's been wearing and gives that to McGee and has a clean one himself. Plus there is the gym clothes thing, so why on earth doesn't McGee have a change of clothes there? The coveralls were better than gym clothes and perfectly adequate, if you ask me. I suspect that is all tied in with the whole Vance thing, to make him look good in the eyes of the younger members of the team, to show he cares by noticing McGee wasn't 'dressed'. So actually, as odd as it is that McGee wouldn't have a change of clothes, it actually *shock horror* is consistent with previous eps! But then again you'd have ( ... )

Well, at least I'm not the only one who noticed. I think it makes even less sense given the scene with the shirt that you reminded me of. So McGee was forced to borrow clothing from Tony and he still hasn't brought in a change of clothes?!?!

I think I am where a lot of fen were last season re: Abby - and I hate that, because I love Abby - but really she was just so annoying....
Really? A lot of fen hated her last year? I didn't love her, but I don't remember her bothering me. (My aggravation was mostly towards the Froggie story if I remember correctly.) But, yes, she is making up for it this season, as far as I am concerned. Like Tony, I would expect a little growth and maturity from her character. I don't want her to completely give up her quirky ways, but I don't want her to become nothing more than her quirks, if that makes sense.

The wife went to Gibbs so that we could quite clearly be told the Aide wasn't the killer; she had to ( ... )

Oh, no. That is the kind of thing that tends to catch my interest more than other stuff - I'm weird like that. It is more than a bit OOC for McGee - as you say. It was obviously there so we could see Vance being 'nice and chummy and caring about his staff' unlike Gibbs who wouldn't have thought to suggest it. Part of the 'intrigue'.

Abby:

I'm bothered far less by the case and all the points you make which I will acknowledge to be valid, simply because that's what always happens in these shows - it has to otherwise each case would last weeks and we'd get no resolution ( ... )

Yeah, but there are interesting ways for a criminal to be caught up and lazy ways. In my view, this was all about the lazy ways. (Like, as much as I disliked the Abby subplot, a fingerprint on a glove box with no fingerprints at the crime scene is actually a decent way to solve a crime. It's an error, but not an obvious one.) And, as I said above, I wouldn't have been so concerned if it was just the one error that tripped up an otherwise smart criminal, or if were a not-so-smart criminal in the first place. For me it was the juxtaposition of smart and stupid elements that bothered me.

We do agree on the fact that a lot of what was meant to be humorous wasn't.
And considering that I don't tend to watch sitcoms but instead rely on shows like NCIS and Bones to give me my humor for the week, that bothers me ( ... )

Four hours later I return to these comments. We went out looking at recliner/riser chairs as I desperately need a new one. We didn't actually come home with one or even buy one as such as they hadn't got quite what I wanted, but the shop owner has taken a gamble and is, in effect buying a chair in that we think should be okay, but if it isn't, he'll keep it and try to sell it.

For me it was the juxtaposition of smart and stupid elements that bothered me.

I can understand fully what you are saying. It's interesting what bothers different people especially when the people are similar in other ways.

Oh, yes. With this I can fully agree. I don't watch sitcoms either.

I know that there has to be more to this show. There are countless interesting stories that can be told (seriously, if Law & Order can have one of its best seasons last year after 18 seasons,Wow, really? That's really ( ... )
