1. Anna has this obsession with long sleeves and pants but it's so warm today I advised her against it. She conceeded to wearing the shorts but would not relent on two shorts sleeved t-shirts and a tank top. She also does not think folded socks are a good idea so she's wearing them up to her knees, with sandals and a gaudy adult-sized headband. We just got back from the store and she got lots of amused grins.
2. My rhubarb is coming back; Anna calls it Woo-bob. I was picking over a couple sticks from last year's garden and pulled one out of the ground that turned out to be the avocado seed I planted (with no real hope of it growing). It did form a long root and was apparently starting a tree but looks dead now. I would love to plant an avocado tree when I come back but I don't know how it will fare in the north.
3. I had to repot my tomato plants again! They are getting so big. I have high hopes for my garden and maybe I'll get something other than tomatoes this year.
4. I've been looking into Grand Canyon University. They offer a full bachelors degree in mathematics education online, seem to have real and reputable accredidation and student loans/grants will cover it all. It'll only be about $22,500 when I'm done, which is less than 4 times as much as my other student loan. If the math is the same for repayment and I get a couple grants as well, it'll totally be worth spending a little more going online so I can get a job with my mom and not worry about day care.
5. 99 days until I leave. My mother is almost positive she's secured us the apartment we wanted with THREE bedrooms, in the neighborhood of a good school for Kathryn and a bikeable area for me.
6. Doctors think my grandfather's brain tumor is back. He's.....I'm not sure. 87? It's benign and they zapped it two years ago with a laser that seemed hopeful. My father is supposed to accompany my grandparents to the doctor this time. They don't like to share the bad news and it drives him crazy when they mention it in passing months later so he insisted on going with them. I hope it's nothing too serious but if it is, I really hope he lives to see the girls. He's never met Anna and hasn't seen Kathryn in three years. I know he carries their picture in his wallet.
