Breathe.

Go find out what happened. Upset is not a state of mind that is going to help anyone. Your parents are going to need you, so scream here, collect yourself and be there for them.

And then we'll be here for you.

I did as you suggested. Everything is fine, btw. I did all the phone calling for nursing homes and such, and then I called my sister and we vented.

You know I have issues with my mother, right? Well, screwy as everything might be, she did teach me some very useful things and the first thing she taught me was to get my wits about me in an emergency and stay calm.

Doesn't mean you can't freak the fuck out later, doesn't mean you can't scream and yell and curse Teh Stoopid, but in the immediate situation, if you've got your mind with you and you've stayed calm, you'll come out better in the end.

This works with every kind of crappy shithole situation the world can throw at you... work, personal life, everything.

I'm glad things ended up being okay and I'm very proud of you for stepping up to the plate and doing what needed to be done.

*giant hug*

You really are fantastic, you know that?

I used to be one of those people that couldn't deal in an emergency, they I started working in nursing homes and learned that I had to. I just thank the Gods that LJ exists for me to vent, because I would go crazy without it, and all of you.

*massive hugs*

Oh, no. *HUGS YOU* Is there any way ya'll could take over his care from her? Like power of attorney or something?

My dad has partial power of attorney, but since she's still "sane" (how loosely I use the term!), he can't take it completely.
