I am not dead! yet.

Yup. Started at home, done in class. AB Psych is a wonderful motivator for writing and goofying off. Not that I don't take notes and listen, but I get so many bunnies that it's like... Yeah. Anyway! On to more Mercverse because I am insane!

Squall led them into the city, the blond and his pack moving with confidence and assurance. Ashura stared around, hir eyes wide as shi tried to watch everything at once, pointing out the tall buildings and the flashy cars, the colorful clothing and grimacing at the noise and dirty air.

Shi sat on his arm, fist clenched in his shirt to retain balance though he would never drop hir. His free arm stayed under his cloak, fingers caressing the hilt of his sword as he watched the shadows they passed.

Rain was also keeping watch, Kitten riding on her shoulder, knives ready to draw at the first threat. Together they walked behind Squall, Quistis bringing up the rear. Not only was she the most effective long range combatant, she seemed troubled by the familiarity between their leader and their guides. Not that she was holding out for his heart, at least, Yasha didn’t think so, but anything that could in anyway harm her chosen master sat very ill with her.

How Squall came to be their de-facto leader, Yasha was still puzzling over. He thought it might be because no one else wanted the position. Ashura was of course the one who would ultimately be the decider of any given choice, but shi usually gave way to whatever anyone else wanted. So Squall made most of the major decisions.

Okay that made sense. Yasha didn’t want to lead because he was busy taking care of Ashura. Rain didn’t want to lead because she was by nature avoidant of responsibility. Not lazy, but inherently independent and uncaring of others goals. Quistis would be a good leader, except that she followed Squall. Whether she would lead if Squall was not there was a question to ponder, but regardless she followed Squall like a bloodhound, and he put up with it because it would hurt her if he didn’t.

Ashura was young. So very young for all hir years, and simply didn’t know what decisions to make. Shi needed them to look after hir until shi was ready to follow hir destiny.

“Is there a reason you couldn’t stay dead other then your father’s annoying habit of fucking with the natural order?”

“Destiny. Karma. Cosmic irony of the worst kind. And I hate the white-green tentacles down there touching me. I felt cleaner when I was hip deep in Chocobo dung.”

“Those are wisps. They show the planet cares about you.”

“The planet is a perverted hunk of rock and you don’t like it either.”

“That’s beside the point. I get tired of buying new clothes because the bloodstains won’t come out.”

“Fight naked. I’m sure your pack mates won’t mind and the enemy will be too busy drooling to see the bullets flying.”

“What heathen left you in charge of a holy mission?”

“The Goddess of Love and Mercy.”

“Figures.”

Well, at least Squall had found a friend. Whether they would survive a few hours being in close proximity with Squall’s friend was another matter.

EDIT: If I reply to your comments via xxstormhartxx, yes that's still me, I'm just too lazy to stop RP'ing and re-log in as Pegunicent.
