on such and such

You, the inhabitants of my largely unchanging friends list, have been boring the shit out of me for the past week or so, to be blunt. There seems to be a large deficit of entries to read, and those that are posted are of extreme shortness, or consist of quizzes. I take it upon myself to alleviate my frustration with my own post. An update of things that are actually happening in my life that don’t involve stories about running away from the police, or plugging my band’s shows.

Actually, that last one I have to do, but I’ll get it out of the way right now. July 14th, Neptune Lounge, 8 P.M. Lots of bands.. That is all.

A more entertaining issue would be that I have been spending large amounts of time in the recording studio over the past week. We’re recording what is to be considered a full-length album, thanks to its 60-70 minutes. It includes copious amounts of extra layers of instrumentation that we originally would have liked to exist, but could not pull off due to limited numbers of band members. Additions of acoustic layering, congas, keyboards, extended vocal harmonies and the like. We’ve gone nuts with the composition of this, consisting of very apparent elements of progressive metal/rock, ambiance, and fusion. Because of the diversity of our styles, we were enabled to effectively set down a twenty-five minute track of multiple movements. It takes up nearly half of the length of the CD and proves that we all listen to too much Dream Theater. You’ll think it’s neat, hopefully. We enjoy our music as we prefer our drugs,

in excess.

If any of you ever paid attention to any of my personal (not collaborative, as with this CD) compositions, you may be happy to find that Loss of November is present on the CD. Though it may not be so obvious, it is there. Arguably in a more appropriate context, at that. I like it more.

My birthday just so happens to be on July 1st, in eight days. I will be 19. From the perspective of 18, 19 seems very, very old. 18 is a superb age. 19 is over the edge. Don’t be surprised if I disappear within the next eight days.
