Just One Balloon
When you’re timeless, anniversaries lose all meaning.
They’re just another marker of passing time; celebration turned to endless grief.
Nonetheless, Jack found himself staring wistfully at the single, hovering balloon. He moved forward, running his fingers down the silky string, fingering the elegant card hanging at its end.
Sighing deeply, Jack flipped the sharply-cut square.

Jack sensed movement behind him; an arm slipping around his waist.
“I wasn’t sure of the date…”
Jack smiled and leant back, card still gripped in his fingers.
“Doesn’t matter.”
A deep sigh of relief, then lips brushed his ear.
“Happy Birthday, Jack.”

Quick Note: This felt right, as if this was now Jack would be under the star-sign of Taurus, something which I think Ianto would have specifically decided should be his star-sign. Here is a quick summary of the Taurus sign:

Because they hate to be put in jeopardy of any kind, this is the sign that strives to create tomorrow in advance, rather than leave it to fate. In love, Taureans are regarded as extremely sensual beings. An earth sign, they deal well with the personal, physical senses and consequently all the pleasures associated with what they can see, touch, smell and taste, add up to a special delight to them. Often nature and pet lovers, Taureans are closely associated with all things off the earth and nature.
