Men and Women in Public Spaces, by
brigid. A really excellent summation of why "just talking" to an unfamiliar woman in public is not a harmless or neutral act.
How to keep someone with you forever, by
issendai. Efficiently outlines the hallmarks of a "sick system" that keeps people in an abusive situation, whether that situation be an intimate relationship, a friendship, or a workplace. A hard read, but a good one. I feel lucky that I have never been in a truly dire abusive situation, one that I didn't feel I could get out of, but I think all of us can probably recognize elements of this list somewhere in our lives (academia can definitely be a sick system). May be triggery.

A Year In Waiting, by bigbigtruck @ DA. An amusing, and at times infuriating, comic series about the artist's stint as a waitress in a Texas restaurant/bar. Really highlights a lot of the properties of sick systems outlined in the above post as they pertain to low-wage jobs and workers; and the sad thing is the extent to which we all accept these things as normal. (Warning for disturbing, possibly triggery content in Part 11.)
