I don't know what to say about today. I...went to an orthodontist? This is the culmination of literally months of effort/avoidance (mostly avoidance). Things like making appointments and calling people on the phone are already hard enough--for me, anyway; I guess there are some people who don't actually freak out about talking to other human beings?--then add in not speaking the language and they become truly formidable.
Actually, I didn't make an appointment or call anyone--I just walked into the clinic this afternoon, and half an hour later I was in a chair talking to the doctor. This is pretty epic in itself. At my ortho's office at home, the latest appointment was 4:00, and Saturdays? Forget about it. This clinic is open from 9:00 to 9:00 (with some breaks), every day. This is totally contrary to my ideas about how doctor's offices work. And it's not like this doctor is the only one in town--dental clinics are on every street corner here, nearly as ubiquitous as 7-11s.
How...how can it be so easy?
