Another year, another handful of LJ entries. I just finished renewing my paid LJ account, and I'm gratified to see that while the price hasn't increased dramatically over the past year (if at all), I have gotten more icon space. Being the iconwhore that I am, I'm sure I'll have it full up in a few minutes... But I digress.
Once a year, I like to reflect on the evolution of my tiny corner of the bloggosphere. I started this particular blog my Freshman year of college, and while I've reformatted the content, changed focus several times, and manually locked and unlocked posts more times than I'd care to count, somehow, it's still here. I've toyed with the idea of getting a new user name, because, hey, it's not college anymore. I've moved on, (theoretically) grown as a person, and maybe I'm not
mercurialwater anymore. But I still like the name, still find it applicable, and it's just become a small part of my overall identity.
This past year I made precious few updates. I blame that totally on all of my wonderful friends (:p), for helping me to finally have a social life not wedged between an endless stream of work and classes and long nights at the library. This past year has been quite possibly my most active on record, ever. I went to Six Flags twice, Ohio, Michigan, Milwaukee The Chicago Botanical Gardens, Lollapalooza, more concerts than you can shake a stick at, explored my new city, and so very, very much more. It's been wonderful to get out and do so many new and interesting things- even if the thought of many of them terrified me at first.
Looking to the future, well, 2008 is an Presidential election year, so you all know what that means. Even more (lenghty) rants on various political topics both related and unrelated to the race for the White House. Oh! And brownie debates! We mustn't forget the traditional candidate debate parties, complte with brownies with red and blue sprinkles. After all, if we don't have out traditions, what are we left with? *strikes a noble pose*
But for now, I'll just be content to get through the holidays. And because no post of mine is complete without a little external linkage or mixed media, I've booked The Beatles to sing a little "Happy Birthday" for me.
Cause I'm a selfish, self-centered bitch like that. ;P
