It came back...
That thing... the thing in my memories - it's kinda like a nightmare. I remember it now very clearly. Last night, I dreamed it again. It is basically a gigantic wolf/fox/feral quadruped with HORNS and FANGS and CLAWS that has several stones / pieces missing from it. When it wakes up, it begins hunting for these pieces. They are like small gemstones, 1x1 lego pieces, or other ~1cm-sized objects that sparkle and glow. When it finds one, just by touching it, it absorbs it and the gem becomes encrusted on its body somewhere and gives the monster more power.
When it gets them ALL, it will be able to get past the barriers of our mortal realm and attack directly all-out. Until then, it is bound to live in shadows and behind walls - just outside regular reach, but it can come through briefly to attack in certain places... places with portals in them.
One such portal was at Meijer's supermarket, where I was getting food. There it attacked sneakily killing some empolyees and taking its power-gemstone from one of their ID badges (how these stones get where they do is WAY beyond me, but I think they basically spread all over the world like some dust in the wind). There are only like 8-12 of them, so its not too bad to get them all.
Speaking of getting all the gemstones, I had like 3 of them, but then the monster snuck through a portal and SWOOPED IN AND STOLE THEM ALL! It immediately got three level-ups in power, and could not destroy cars. Oh GREAT! That meant it had just ONE MORE TO GO! We had to go to an offshore mall (like an offshore oil-rig, but a MALL) and find and protect the last gem.
Long story short, we failed, and I had to evacuate Lena, Mike, and everyone else or they'd all die. The thing can swim, use dimensional travel, run really fast, devour things, and shoot Ki powers at everything, destroying them wiht energy blasts. It's the perfect Pokémon!!! Well, it destroyed the offshore mall in a jiffy, but didn't eat as many people as I had feared. Many survivors existed in the aftermath so someone cell-phoned in the military and they started engaging it and rescued everyone who they could.
As I woke up, the military stood fighting the thing with a pretty decent arsenal of weapons. I don't think this nightmare of mine chose stat points in defending against THOUSANDS OF TANKS, SHIPS, PLANES, and MISSLES. It was statted to do stalking and assassinations, and then at ultimate level, fight against ground forces. Artilery and vehicular weapons are WAY beyond its scope, so even with its powers, it was taking decent damage from the human forces. YAY! GO HUMAN BEINGS! DESTROY THE CREATURES FROM OTHER DIMENSIONS INVADING OURS! :)
In happier news, I have 3 more job interviews lined up - for good paying positions! And I expect word from a fourth that I already interviewed for. *Excitement!*
