So another week of...Oh my god is this what life is?

So after a nice weekend of stuff to do like looking at a house with major structure damage and buying bamboo floor mats, I've found myself here befuddled by another week of working furiously til I have nothing to do. I'm bored and I just want to go home and do my laundry. Or maybe play some Final Fantasy X. I've been a little mad with the video games lately. I've bought a decent amount of them (discounted of course) in the past week. If you have a console and you're thinking about a wireless controller then I highly recommend Logitech's. I have the Xbox and the PS2 version and both are exceptional.

Speaking of wireless I've been looking at some new wireless routers and that Vonage VoIP service. We'll talk about wireless routers first. I was looking at wireless routers about a month ago when an account executive at work needed to get one for her house. I found out that the speed of 802.11g has gotten quite a bit faster than the 54 mbps I'm kicking now. It's doubled. So I went to Microsoft's website to see if they had a new wireless router (since my current router is a Microsoft) and they have apparently deceided not to make wireless routers anymore. AWESOME! So i guess I can kiss my driver support goodbye? So I started to research the new routers. I eneded up buying a D-link router with Super-G signal enhancer. What is Super-G? Nothing just a series of letters that make the router seem more reliable. But in my research I came to like a Netgear model with 7 internal directional antennas. It costs like $140 but it looked like it might help solve my Media Center PC to XBox Media Center Extender connection problems. I was going to buy it Saturday at Bestbuy when I stopped to think about my problem with the wireless connection between the two devices. Without writing a lengthy description of my entire thought process I realized (as I have in the past) that Microsoft has made a some crappy software for both my wireless router and the Media Center extender. So as much as I'd like a network that pumps 108 mbps I really don't need it because even with better coverage my problem can't be fixed since its poor software design and not hardware issues. I mean I can play Halo2 online with XBox live and not have any issues but my XBox media center extender can't connect because the moons haven't aligned and I didnt sacrifice small woodland creatures at Billy Boy's alter. I hate it when equipment doesn't work to spec!

OK now to Vonage. I'm seriously thinking about doing this. I pay about $45 dollars a month for Local calls and Local Long distance with Verizon. Well if I shell out the $50 bucks now to get a phone adapter I can pay $25 for unlimited long distance and local calls and I get to keep my current number. It's becoming very hard not to do this. Right now Best Buy has a rebate deal for a wireless router for free with a trade in of your current router. Of course the router is $104 up front. I know that if I lose a connection on my broadband I can't make any calls but if that happens I do have my cell phone. So where does this suck? I can't see a downfall yet. But that usually waits until after you buy it.

OK maybe I'll write more later my dear friends.

Take care all!
