So I know it's been a while since I've posted, but life has just been so up and down over the past few weeks, and then you throw Christmas in there and it's just well, overwhelming to say the least.

I left my job at the hospital because I honestly underestimated just how physical it was and I frankly couldn't take it. My supervisor was extremely understanding and I got a note from my doctor for my HR file and I'll definitely be eligible for rehire when and if the time is right. So basically, I've been laid up in the bed for the past two weeks moaning and groaning about heartburn and arthritis or rushing to the bathroom for the morning all day sickness that I thought was supposed to subside by now. I'm more pitiful now than I've ever been in my entire life and anyone who knows me knows I'm a whiner.

Christmas came and went. Money is tight right now so the gifts I bought were really skimpy and almost embarrassing, needless to say we got sooooo much more than we asked for and I'm so grateful for it. Here's the list so far:
  • $250 in cash
  • $100 in target gift cards
  • $25 babies-r-us gift card
  • An expensive watch from my in-laws
  • Spin Spa
  • 2 bath sets
  • Dream Angels Perfume & Lotion
  • Japanese Cherry Blossom body spray
  • a red and black complete cookware set
  • a 2gig flash drive
  • big fancy toolbox
  • a personalized puzzle that says 'lily' for the baby

I also got a BEAUTIFUL journey diamond necklace and a pair of diamond earings from my loving husband that I certainly was not expecting and I'm 100% freaking out about how we can afford it. I guess I should just shut up and enjoy it. Who said the holidays were a time of practicality?

We had 5 Christmas gatherings which means lots and lots of ham, which I'm not complaining about. My contribution to each of them was banana pudding, which is so amazing, and I was so proud of it until my cousin told me that was a "summer dessert." WTF? What makes a food a summer food and a winter food? Okay, I can see the more traditional Turkey/Dressing as "fall/winter" food, MAYBE. But banana pudding is so ambiguous, and you know- AMAZING, that I personally considered it a dessert of all seasons. Next year I'll just stick to dinner rolls.

Tonight we went to see Juno and I bawled my eyes out as I usually do. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would and really don't understand the critical acclaim, but it was a cute movie and I really enjoyed the soundtrack. It was at least 80% Kimya Dawson and I can never complain about that. I also saw, but didn't get a chance to speak to Alex Wright. It further proves the point that he is my guardian angel. I often think about just how often I run into him and have recently come to the conclusion that he would be in the top twenty list on the cast of characters in the end credits of the movie of my life. Although we've only spoken maybe 200 words to each other in the 6/7 years that I've known him so he would most likely only be listed as 'hip guy in the background.' The funny thing is he probably doesn't even realize any of this just like my other guardian angel, the car wash attendant from Lee's Express Wash, who would by the way only inch into the top thirty in the cast of characters. Chris says I'm creepy so I'll stop talking about people I don't know now.

This is what I'm buying with my Christmas money:

It becomes more and more uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach every day, and regardless of what the doctor says I feel like I'm crushing my baby so I think the Snoogle will help my problem. Also I can't wait to walk into target and ask for help finding a 'snoogle.'

Also, I got more ultrasound photos and they're even more beautiful than the first.

This one is an obvious side view of the baby

In this one, our little bean is sucking her thumb.

The doctor was trying to give us an overhead view of the development of her brain and she decided to wave at us! You can see her little fingers!

This is obviously my favorite as you can clearly see her eyes and a huge smile.

She was very active and was practically doing cartwheels. I think she just wanted to put on a show for us. Now that I'm entering my second trimester, it is so unbelievable. I mean, this little 3 inch baby has all of it's organs. Even teeth buds and toe nails, it even has fingerprints. Of course the hard part is yet to come, but my God- we created this perfect little being out of nothing and it is a viable human life. Well, I have to keep it in the oven for a little while longer, but every day I'm more and more amazed at the true miracle that's taken up residency in my uterus. I know, grossyuck.

Anyway, I hope you all had an especially lovely holiday as well!
