Once upon a time, Suomi lived happily. Then from the west came Ruotsi, who was a bit pushy and overbearing and scary at times but otherwise bearable, who insisted that Suomi live in Ruotsi's house, which Suomi did because it just happened... naturally, perhaps. Then Venäjä came into the picture. Driven by greed, perhaps, Venäjä to...ok Suomi from Ruotsi's house and forced Suomi to live in Venäjä's house instead. Perhaps Venäjä didn't like Ruotsi very much, for Ruotsi was strong, or perhaps Venäjä simply wanted Suomi to "become one with Venäjä", but Venäjä didn't like Suomi's close relationship with Ruotsi and wanted to cut ties betwen them. So Venäjä told Suomi things, about how great Suomi could be just ...by being Suomi, rather than being shadowed by Ruotsi all the time. Venäjä gave Suomi a lot of freedom, something Suomi haven't tasted in its intirity since living with Ruotsi.
Venäjä also might or might not have whispered into Suomi's ears bad things about Ruotsi, and recounted history to Suomi that made Suomi's time with Routsi seemed much harsher than it actually was.
Suomi had an inferiority complex, which probably started a while after living at Ruotsi's house. Suomi felt that Ruotsi is the more refined, wealthy of the two, and under Venäjä's words, has grown to shown this sense of inferiority as contempt to Ruotsi.
Eventually, Venäjä gave Suomi the right to live in Suomi's own house. That said, Venäjä did that thinking Suomi would come back to Venäjä's house willingly after tasting freedom. Unfortunately for Venäjä, Suomi liked living by oneself verym...uch, although there was a bit of internal conflict going on initially. Since Venäjä's plan failed, Venäjä thought to take Suomi by force instead.
Oh and I should add, Ruotsi seems rather fond of Suomi.
but back to the main story, the conflict between Venäjä and Suomi. Venäjä had good weapons and strength, whereas Suomi had little of both. It was with great difficulty and not without painful losses on Suomi's side, that Suomi retained the right... to live by oneself. Throughout Suomi's fight with Venäjä, Suomi looked to Ruotsi for help. Yet, thinking that Suomi would loose, Ruotsi was afraid to antagonise Venäjä.
Ruotsi did help, in terms of providing some weapons for Suomi and perhaps just a little bit in fighting Venäjä, but they were of little effect- along with all other help and "sympathy" Suomi recieved.
The story ends with Suomi, Ruotsi and Venäjä living in seperate houses, Suomi being bitter towards Ruotsi, who is content to live in a Suomi-less house but could not understand Suomi's attitude towars Ruotsi. As for Venäjä? I think Venäjä has mo...re problems more important than the relationship with Suomi to deal with.
