Library minutiae

My university library has fairly recently gone self-service for issuing and returning books. As far as I can tell, this just creates endless annoyance for borrowers and librarians alike, as the librarians now spend their whole time telling people that it's now self-service and showing them how to work the machines.

There are a number of notices up around the place announcing the change. One of them adds 'If you need further help, you can contact a small customer support team'. But I'm not small, I'm quite tall. What am I supposed to do when I have an attack of stupidity? (Also it amuses me that the librarian who is nearly always on this duty is very short, so there's a small customer support team member too).

frivolity, books
