Grump, grump, grump

This evening I am mostly tired and grumpy and stressed about work, and I am tired of being tired and grumpy and stressed about work.

Also LJ keeps being down and then what am I supposed to do for entertainment? Make my own? Read books, or watch television, or do one of the million useful things that need doing round the house, or do something creative? Outrageous suggestion. Besides, I'm too grumpy to do anything creative or useful.

So, in a blatant attempt to cheer myself up, cheerful and non-stressful things:

LB puts off having his nappy changed by getting you to change all his soft toys' nappies first. The other day he extended this and I changed the nappy of an orange stick (those things you use to pick dirt out from under your nails. Or, in my life, from under LB's nails when he has been digging in the soil).

Err. There must be more cheerful things than that.

I'm on holiday next week. Although a piece of work I was supposed to have finished by then won't be finished so I'll still be worrying about it a bit, which is not ideal. But I will, nonetheless be on holiday. If nothing else, I should be able to get plenty of sleep. And some fun too. And I have some good books hoarded to read.

Oh yes, PB made me the most beautiful necklace at school, which I wore to work today. It is pieces of penne pasta painted in red and purple and yellow ordinary paints and teal and blue lustre paints. If you look closely it's a bit obviously made by a child, but from a distance I think it looks just like something you might buy in the shops. And I'm very touched that PB deliberately chose so many of my favourite colours, and left out the plan unpainted pasta because 'that was boring'.

I have some good excursions planned for my childcare days between grandparent-visiting weeks. And Friday will be okay with just a trip to the library and some packing. Maybe a walk in the woods too, if I can persuade PB

Oh that reminds me of another recent lovely thing - spontaneously taking 3 small boys for a walk in the woods. We met friendly Gruffalos who licked our muddy feet clean, ate blaeberries and blackberries, rubbed out horse hoof prints so people wouldn't know they'd been there, were trolls, mixed a cake made of mole hill (brown flour), sorrel seeds (brown sugar), imaginary butter, and reed seeds (eggs), were pirates and walked the gangplank, found we were in the garden of PB's Transitional Object and met and stroked very gently TO's babies. And none of those ideas came from me. And LB only had to be carried for the last 5 minutes of an hour and a half's walk. Fantasy parenting stuff
.

Well, I'm still grumpy when I stop thinking about those things, but at least I had some respite from my grumps.
