Super Jennie for Medium Cervix & Sensitive Bladder?

Dec 28, 2018 16:10

Hi everyone, recently I bought Lunette size 1 and tried it for my latest period. For your information i'm 22, never had sex, never had kids, never used tampons before (only pads), I have a medium height cervix and sensitive bladder!

These are a few things that i experienced.

1. No leakage which is good!

2. I needed to pee really badly all the time ( Read more... )

sizes/size issues, urination, stem length/trimming, camping & backpacking, lunette

I had tried a Lunette previously and had similar issues. I started with a Diva, which worked okay on the odd day that my cervix was higher but it was usually too low for the Diva to be comfortable; then I tried a MoonCupUK and the size/shape was better but the prominent and firm rim was really painful for me; I then moved on to the Lunette because it had a similar shape to the MKUK but the rim didn't seem as prominent, and I had heard it was a favourite of many people. (All of these were size 1 cups by the way). I did like the shape of the Lunette but could never get into using it regularly because it really irritated my urethra. I've had a few UTIs in the past and it would always feel like I had a UTI when I had the Lunette in. For a while I gave up on cups, thinking that maybe they just weren't for me.

Recently, though, I thought I'd give the lunette another try in case my experience would improve after a break. Unfortunately, the urethra irritation was still too uncomfortable to put up with. However, I decided it was worth looking for a softer cup after reading advice on forums like this one. I eventually settled on the Si-Bell cup. I decided to try the larger size because I also read a number of posts saying not to be too worried about the size rule (small for nulliparous people or those under 30 and large for people over 30 and/or those who have given birth). Many posters said they had gone with a large cup even though they fit the 'small' criteria, either because they wanted the extra volume due to a heavy flow or because they felt it fit better, or some combination of those reasons. I sometimes had trouble with cups feeling like they were slipping a bit and can have quite a heavy flow on some days, so I decided to give the size 2 Si-Bell a try based on the advice I read. I am now on my first period with it, and I *think* I've found my goldilocks cup! I haven't had ANY urethra irritation at all, it has felt super comfortable for the hours I've had it in (usually I could feel some discomfort even when the other cups were inserted correctly), and haven't had any leaks! It is a bit harder to insert because it doesn't pop open quite as easily, but because it's comfortable once inserted I have had an easier time overall because I haven't had to fiddle around with it or readjust once it's in. I also don't mind that it doesn't pop open quite as easily, because there were a couple of times in the past where one of the firmer cups hit my cervix while popping open and caused a ton of pain and nausea (my cervix is medium-to-low when I'm on my period).

I haven't tried the Super Jennie, but that was the other cup I was considering when looking at the Si-Bell. It might be worth also looking into the Si-bell to compare if you haven't already, since the cup issues you're having sound quite similar to mine. Sorry to add another contender to the list! Regardless of which cup you decide on, though, I definitely encourage your plan to try a softer cup, as it has made a world of difference for me! I finally feel like the cup is a viable option now that it isn't hurting my urethra!

Oh thank you so much for the recommendation! Unfortunately in my country the only soft cups i can get are either super jennie or lily cup (which i don't think will fit me) and I was worried about the size of Super Jennie size one (it looks big compared to Lunette size 1)

But i think i'll just try super jennie size 1!

No problem! Good luck with the Super Jennie! Even though the Si-bell size 2 is bigger than any of the other cups I've tried, it's turned out to be far more comfortable, so hopefully you have the same experience with the Jennie! I also had to cut the entire stem off all of the other cups and I've been able to leave part of the stem on this one without issue, so I think it's really the softness and shape that has been key for me.

Good luck!
