Less Meep

Feeling saner today.  Yay me.

I had a pretty good day over all.  I spent most of my morning in class, and then this afternoon I went over to see my creative writing professor during his office hours.  He was helping me work out some of the problems with my Jazzman story, because I was getting really stuck, and frustrated by it.  I was having trouble because I'm working off of Thomas the Rhymer and the length from the beginning of the song to the end is seven years, which is an awfully long time to cover in a short story.  And I'm not ready to write a novel.  Not now.  I don't have the time or the energy to devote to an intricate, detailed plot as a novel would require.  Anyway, talking to him really helped me work out some of the reasons I was getting stuck, and some of the things I needed to figure out.  I think I know where I'm going with this story, at least for the next ten pages or so.  (Hello, lady knight, it's time for some character development.  Why don't you come over here and have a seat, and we'll have a little chat?  How does that sound?)  I need to flesh out Thomas's character, and the character of the Queen as well, although I'm not sure I ever want to play in her head.  Wicked bitch.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to write this in year segments so it makes the amount of time I have to manage a little easier to control.

In other news, the bear that tore down our shed has returned.  This time he broke into our neighbor's garage and ate all of their cat food and bird food.  My mom actually saw him and took a picture, which I will upload at some point.  He's a pretty big bear.  I think he may need to be declared a nuisance animal and moved to another area, because he seems far too comfortable with getting into people's houses.  It's a real shame when bears get like this.  They're such amazing animals, and it's frustrating to see the detrimental impact humans have on them where they are so desensitized to our presence that they break into homes.  It certainly does not help that people seem to thinking feeding the bears is okay.  It's not.  Come on people, how hard is this?  If you feed the bears, they expect you to keep feeding them.  They are not stupid animals.  And when you stop, they're going to come looking for food where they know it comes from.

they must need bears, faerie, writing, not so wild life
