From the highs to the lows. Great weekend (see previous post), good start to the week --- and then today. Instead of everything I had planned, I spent the morning wrestling with banks online and on the phone. I will not bore you with the annoying details. Suffice it say that it left me with a headache and the hope that work would be better (I work afternoons now). I walked in to find several piles of papers on my desk from a client’s house to be sorted. Okay, no problem, except that the large plastic file folder I opened first must have been stored in the basement where there are some water problems. I opened it, and the smell instantly took me back to the smell of our house after the flood. 23 years later, you’d think I was over it - but this just hit like a ton of bricks. Flashbacks of that are no fun. After a few minutes, I was able to get myself together and go through the other folders, which, thank goodness, were scent-free. When my boss came in, I explained why I hadn’t done that one yet, and he took and put it wide open in another room to air out and said, deal with it tomorrow. At least I’m lucky to have a boss like that. But I still feel a bit off-kilter.
Mainly, I’m just ready for it to be tomorrow.
