Stargate ... mostly

Why in the world would my dvd rental place send me the bonus material from a movie before the actual movie?
I don't get why the Stargate Fan Awards doesn't have the pairing listed by the fic titles. If it's a plan to expose people to more then their usual pairing it sure won't work with me. All it means is I will vote for ones I know and probably miss a lot of worthy nominees because I don't have the time to shuffle through all the stories finding the pairings I read.
Stargate Recs : Two AU recs, one from SGA (John/Rodney) and the other from SG1 (Jack/Daniel) All would probably be considered slightly sappy, but I like sap.
A Farm in Iowa Universe
The first fic is A Farm In Iowa , then read And Then There Was Finn. Both by sheafrotherdon AU SGA fic and a very remarkable John. Generally, while I find John totally charming and likable in fic there isn't much depth to him. This John isn't flat at all and I really enjoy how his mind works. So many unexpected little details make this story come to life, even the farm itself is a character. Although the stories are full of choices I whittled down my favourite part to this one from And Then There Was Finn...
By the time dawn's a glimmer on the eastern horizon, he's tugged on a jacket and headed to the barn, pulled out the rocking chair that's been standing in a corner. "So. You're thing number three," he murmurs, and sets down his mug, turns to the shelves full of half-used paint cans, and searches for the color of his grandfather's belief.
Finally, I will cave and rec my favourite SG1 author with my favourite stories as well. Although there are many many to chose from Biblio is the one I reread most often, so I will say she is my favourite. As for fics... World Enough, And Time is an AU story that gives us a possible explanation as to how we went from *movie* Jack to *Tv* Jack. I love all of Biblio's stories but this one and these next three Accidents And Understandings and Owing Silence|Vanilla Sunday are my favourites. Actually the JD Divas site is full of fantastic authors and a huge variety of excellent fics.
The old time X files fan in me totally loved this part of a Jack and Daniel conversation.

"It's Sunday, and the X-Files is on."
"Oh, puh-leeze. Now that they got rid of Mulder, what's left? Doggett? I don't think so."
*snickers madly* That's how I felt.
