I've started my fourth (fifth? sixth?) attempt at college this week. Due to a combination of quirks in student aid, a major commitment this summer until October, and my desire not to get in to deep right away I'm only taking two classes this semester. Whooooooooooooo. Today was a long day, but I pulled it off. I started my exam around ten in the morning and finished up sometime after six. No lunch break. It's about an hour of question-answer with the evaluator, then a bunch of projects. I know I didn't think so at first, but this one was a lot more of a squeaker than I thought it would be. Unlike airframe where I had the weekend to study I had to cram all of the stuff about jet and reciprocating engines over the last three days. Passed my second test, this one was a little harder. I got a whole mess of those 'grey area' questions. The ones where you sorta remember but not quite. The whole trick on studying for multiple choice tests is study so that you move the questions that you have no clue to the 'grey area', and reduce those to the 'answer pops into my head as I'm ( Read more... )

I passed my written General exam just a little bit ago, and we start airframe this afternoon. I lucked out. Most of the general aviation stuff I already knew. Electricity, physics, math I had pretty well down, so I was able to focus on the parts I had little experience with like forms, instructions, and general FAA rules ( Read more... )

OMGosh it's gotten cold. It doesn't normally get this chilly for at least another month. I'm going to be in Tampa for the next few weeks and the forecasts there are for 1C. One degree above freezing!
