Shuttle Endeavour has safely returned last night after another successful mission. Two loud sonic booms heralded it's return, but it was way to dark to see it land. With a little over 18 hours of spacewalks the crew attached the Tranquility module and it's panoramic cupola. There was a small hangup with an ammonia coolant line, but everything ( Read more... )

As a follow up to a response from nicodemusrat in my last post I went to visit the SpaceX pad to see if the Falcon9 was visible. I'm sad to say that while the maiden launch is scheduled for five weeks away all that is on the pad is an umbilical support tower. Saturday night the ULA was able to launch a DeltaIV rocket. I think it was the first attempt with this particular configuration. Four little solids attached to the first stage. A lot of weather delays pushed it right up to the end of the window but when it did launch it lit up the night. The payload was the latest SATCOM which should greatly ( Read more... )
