Yesterday, I finally got to talk to my sister and got some more news about my mother. It ain't good. Basically, her heart attack did more damage than previously thought and the way to treat the two underlying problems is with surgery, which she refused. For most of the time I have been alive, death has had relatively little existence for me.   Then having immigrated into the United States has kind of given me a detachment from my family and the people with whom I grew up.
