Weekends usually don't have a lot of activity outside of housework for me. This one was kind of different. But then again, maybe not. Who knows.
Friday, I went to sleep somewhere around 11:30 PM, thinking that I would be able to sleep until at least 8:30 AM on Saturday. I'm a good thinker, really I am. But this thinking didn't really do me any favors. Saturday morning came around and my friend Irma called at 7:30 AM, asking me if she could take me out to breakfast before I started work . Since I was planning to leave at 9:30 AM anyway, all I had to do was to speed up a little and leave at 8am instead of 90 minutes of sleep later. Dang! Split feelings here: Breakfast with friend - yippie! Not enough sleep - not so good.
Actually, it wasn't all that bad to get up early. The bad part about this is, that when the afternoon comes around, I am so not in any shape to do all the things I had planned. I end up sitting around, not being able to quite get myself motivated. On days like that my head is all fuzzy and foggy. Almost like a hangover.
But I really should not have been tired. After all, 11:30 PM to 7:30 PM is enough time for a restful night. Part of the reason may also be that K's anxiety has been acting up again. He tosses and turns through the night. Since he is retired, his body has time to sleep whenever he wants to. "Why don't you just close your eyes and sleep." Yeah right! Each time that happens, I end up paying the price. Well, actually he does, too. The house doesn't get picked up, I don't cook, and I'm grumpy. And he doesn't like me grumpy.
When I finally came home from work, I cooked up 3 different kinds of beans, and made a large 3 bean salad with home grown, organic bell peppers, tomatoes, onion and cucumber. Yummy! Tons of fiber. We're now becoming a very musical family. It was just what I needed. Cold food - I really like cold food on hot days. A bit of chicken sausage to top it all off and my body was ready for some ice cream. But here, again - getting up early foiled my plans and I had to do with frozen banana slices. This was a nice beginning to an evening on the couch.
On Sunday we had made plans to meet with N&P at Stern Grove for the last concert of the season.
They Might Be Giants was a cute band. Definitely what I had expected. Funny, of beat lyrics. I can so see why they wold do music for children's shows. I would have to have time to focus on just the music to appreciate them better, since we were busy socializing, as well. Everybody in our group, especially the two of us arrived there late. The only seating to be found was in the tree line, where we could hear really well, but couldn't really see the performance. Getting to the area of seating was another issue. I hadn't counted on hill seating, and was wearing s/flip flops, which I had to take off and make it down the slippery soil of the hillside barefooted. Thank goodness, P was able to help and hold me hand while I fearfully went down the 10 or so feet of dry ground between the trees. I was afraid to re-injure my foot and tail bone. Foot okay - tail bone complaining loudly.
The concert was over and I really didn't want to fight to get onto the Bay Bridge, so we decided to take the way home through Marin. Good plan, not so good follow up. Once we got to the center of Marin, there were warnings that Sears Point Raceway was active this weekend and to expect delays. Good grief! Out with the Hwy. 37 plan, Richmond Bridge and Hwy. 80, here we come. Once home, we really noticed the temperature difference between SF and home. SF cool, V hot. Good grief! It's like having a hot flash. Thought that was over.
All in all, a good weekend.
