Saw 4 gets NC-17 Rating

 Saw IV's current incarnation won't be hitting the main street theaters any time soon, it got an NC-17 rating.  There are rumors that Comic-con though about turning down their movie clip of the first five minutes of the movie because it was too graphic. Lord help us, you've got me started on the MPAA.

I'm not a huge fan of the "Saw" films. The first one was OK, but after that it was all down hill. Seemed like a good concept that was poorly executed.

But that said, I think they should absolutely, positively leave it as is. I hate, hate HATE the MPAA, and the fact that their stupid irrational ratings system completely screws artists. I want every filmmaker with any kind of clout to leave their movie rated NC-17, rather than having a group of social and religious zealots arbitrarily censor them. I want society to get used to seeing movies get NC-17 ratings (as many, many R rated films do before they're forced to go back and censor themselves), and be OK with that ( ... )
