Full Moon Swap - July 2008 (in progress)

And Now For Something Completely Different
I just need to make a light-hearted post right now. Especially after the depressing one earlier today. So, I thought I'd share a project I worked on last night for full_moon_swaps I hadn't done a FMS swap for months. In fact, the last I did was January 2008. I either didn't really feel the theme or I didn't have the cash and then the community went on hiatus for a few months to regroup.

So anyway, this is the first theme back. And it's a different type of theme. This month, you have to send five - and only five - items. The catch is that you don't know what the specific themes are going to be all at once. Each week, we get a new description of what we have to find that fits in with the theme.

Example...the first week we had to write on a postcard something about ourselves. The second week we were told to pick something that you have in common with our partners. The third week is something fun. The fourth and fifth I don't know yet but will find out over the next two Fridays.

So anyway, I made a postcard. And last night I made the "something in common" thing. My partner is sundays_moon who's on my friend's list (so I've filtered this from her) and she lists in her member survey that her favorite animals are frogs, monkeys and that she's really got a new like for bats. I happen to love bats so I decided I'd make her a bat painting.

It's with complete apologies to Kurt Halsey because it's his bat, just my painting of it. (See, I can color something, but I can't draw it. And this bat is SO CUTE I used it for my template.) Yes I know that's bad of me, but it's for a personal gift so I don't think it's too awful. I found the image through google and used it as the template for the outline. Obviously mine's not as good as his but I think it came out pretty decent. I know she likes monsters and cute things so I hope she likes this cute bat painting.

Took me a couple hours last night. Used acrylic paint.
