Good Riddance 2007
I have to admit. I won't really be sad to see this year go. I, like many people, had a really hard year filled with an unnecessary amount of crap. I can only hope that the new year will bring new hope, opportunity and prosperity.

Some of the oh-so-fun 2007 highlights included...

  • My Aunt (and Godmother) being diagnosed with breast cancer and going through chemotherapy and radiation this summer.

  • My sister being diagnosed with breast cancer and currently going through chemo, then needing to go through radiation and having missed both Thanksgiving and Christmas with the family because of being ill.

  • My mom's health continuing to get worse and her need to get surgery on the first of both thumbs to try to get some usage back in them (where currently she has none) which has put her in a cast all of this month and left her very frustrated at her inability to do anything.

  • The temp job I've worked at for the past couple years on-and-off having downsized and laid off about half their staff this summer including friends of mine, some of whom are still looking for jobs due to poor tech industry in the area and the horribly low salaries paid locally.

  • My Nanny's (maternal grandmother) dementia getting worse and my mom and her siblings needing to step in and take her car away from her to save her from herself and others from her as well.

  • Continued health problems for myself, general worsening of my chronic issues and reduction in my all-around quality of life. Financial worries, relationship worries, job worries - generally just stress heaped upon stress and topped with another serving of stress.

I could go on, but it's just too depressing. Suffice to say, it's just not been a banner year. Not only for myself, but for my family and for my friends. I can't even begin to chronicle all the hardships I've read throughout the year on my friends' blogs, the lost jobs, the health problems, the deaths or illnesses... It just seems like the world is sinking and taking us all down with it.

So like I said. All I can do is hope 2008 will bring a wind of change for the better. I hope each and every one of you are blessed with an abundance of positivity in the coming year and that we can all have much more positive things to say next year in our New Year's Eve wrap-ups 365 days from now.

Good bye 2007. You won't be missed.
