Remembering 9/11
Jiří Boudník
Architect and Author of “Towers”

Jiří Boudník

This fall we observed the ten-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the U.S. Join us on Thursday, December 1st at 5:30p.m. to hear about the events by internationally renowned architect, Jiří Boudník, who experienced the World Trade Center towers collapse first-hand and was later an important part of the architectural assessment team tasked to provide answers on the structural causes of the collapse.
Mr.  Boudník immigrated to the U.S. from the Czech Republic 20 years ago, and studied arts and architecture at the famous Cooper Union in New York. On September 11, 2001 he was working as a project engineer at a construction site near the Brooklyn Bridge when the hijacked planes crashed into the nearby World Trade Center. At that moment he decided to run to warn the rescuers of the buildings possibly collapsing. He was among the first rescuers on the site.
In the following weeks he created 3D models of Ground Zero that were used for searching for survivors and removing debris.
Mr. Boudník will speak about his experiences and his new book detailing them, «Towers: 9/11 Story» (Note: This event will be held in English.)
