Three stories/games:
1)D&D hack & slash.
2) V:TR in Boston 1880 -> Modern Day; includes intrigue, "family" war, power & territory, etc
3) Exalted: Dragon Blooded; involves House warfare & the taking of territory (including areas outside of The Realm).
----I'm getting more & more excited about the whole House War thing... i guess it's being reflected in both #2 & #3. Both involve taking territory, but while in V:TR the methods are primarily interpersonal "relationships" & ...guile, i guess... the E:DB methods usually revolve around open warfare between armies; occasionally (usually) mercenary companies, as the PCs (usually) don't have the standing within the house to reflect the direct control & deployment of the House Legions (or whatever the "offical" house armies are called).
----i'm also interested in E:DB because the relationships between Church & State/s are very different than those in the Real world that V:TR takes place in. I mean, the real dfference seems like having an actual Country of your own, with it's own physical boundries & populaces, and having a vague sort of "influence" among, say, a portion of a city (as in V:TR).
----that's basically what i'm going to be revolving the Boston game around: having control of various "perishes" and "diocese," especially since one player decided to be a priest. But that doesn't really seem as satisfying as actually RULING a bloody NATION, and all that comes with it, like courtly intrigue, waging war, etc etc etc.
----FUCK. maybe i should just ask The Guys which one they'd rather play. but fuck's sakes, they'd probably be rock & roll either way... aka ultra apathetic.
FUCK. persoanl preference, right now, is for E:DB, mainly because it's just straight-up not nearly as ("dark?" "morbid?" "completely Ubergoth?") inherently depressing. with V, you're literally Damned, vs E, where you're literally a child of Divine Breeding. god's love vs god's spite...
gonna miss my bus if i don't pick up.
