today: under the tea cupboard, and 25 more hiragana

Feb 17, 2007 23:55

Today I cleared out the counter space under the tea cupboard, wiped the counter, tossed all the expired pills and labeled the tops on the rest and put them in a box together, put some more-frequent-use cookbooks in the resulting space, tossed some of the random crap I found and piled the rest on the end of the counter and started pointing people at it to claim their stuff if it's important, collected various recipes from that space and the sides of the fridge, hole-punched them and organized them into a binder labeled "Metaphorest House Recipes", prepped melon and made a layered guacamole dip, put away produce, and learned 25 new hiragana (that last isn't as impressive as it sounds--they're variations on 20 I already knew). I now know 70 hiragana, and tomorrow I should be able to learn the rest of them (33 more, also variations on ones I know, and the n character, which I've already been using). Woohoo!

Alex is almost getting the crawling thing. Today she pushed herself high up on her hands, and managed to get her knees down rather than held up high. She wriggled backwards some, but hasn't yet figured out the forward technique. Fed her pureed melon, but she didn't care for it. Honestly, I didn't either; it's a canteloupe-honeydew cross and not really ripe enough to be flavorful. She fell asleep well tonight, has woken up once but went back to sleep after not too much yelling. We've got her in a disposable diaper tonight in hopes that will reduce night waking, since the last couple nights have involved a lot of it and I'd like to get more sleep tonight.
