Linalee furrowed her brow as she moved from one shelf to another, carefully checking each book title along the way. Once in a while, she would release a sigh of disappointment as the book she was looking for continued to evade her eyes. Upon reaching the final shelf and still empty-handed, she turned to the redhead boy who was currently sitting on the couch, and called his attention.
"Rabi."
The future Bookman tore his eyes away from the book he was reading to look at her.
"Have you seen any English-Japanese dictionary?" she asked.
"English-Japanese dictionary?" Rabi mimicked. " Does this library even have one?"
"Of course," she replied, walking towards the couch and sat down. "I'm sure I've seen it here before. ".
The redhead closed his book and placed it down on the space in between them. "Why do you need it anyway?" he asked curiously. "Don't tell me you're trying to learn Japanese."
"As a matter of fact, I am. " She grinned.
"Eh? Why don't you just ask Yuu to help you out?"
Linalee's smile faded upon hearing the Japanese's name. "Kanda? No, thanks." Crossing her arms over her chest, she slumped back against the couch and pouted.
"I'm sure Yuu will teach you if you ask him nicely."
The Chinese sighed. "I doubt he would. He's actually the reason why I'm trying to learn the language." She turned to face Rabi. " Because he said I can't." Clenching her fists tightly, Linalee looked at Rabi with a determined expression on her pretty face. "Hmph. I'll show him."
Releasing another sharp breath, she returned her attention back to the shelves. "But first, I have to find that dictionary."
"You know… " Linalee looked back at Rabi as she heard him speak. "I don't claim to be fluent with the language but I do know a few Japanese words."
The girl's eyes lit up. "Really?"
He nodded.
" So do you know how to say 'Please come home safe' in Japanese?"
"Why? Are you planning to say that to Yuu before he leaves tomorrow?" Rabi smiled teasingly. " Heh,you really care about him, don't you?"
Linalee looked away upon hearing Rabi's words. She cleared her throat, before replying, "I care for everyone. You're my friends, after all."
The redhead's grin turned wider. "Uh-huh."
Ignoring her friend's teasing expression, Linalee repeated her earlier question in an exasperated tone."So do you know how to say 'Please come home safe' in Japanese or not?"
"Well…" the redhead stalled. It took a lot of self-control from Rabi not to laugh as an idea entered his head…an idea that he believed could result to a very interesting scenario.
And an idea that would definitely earn him the wrath of the Chinese if she ever discovered his real intention. Fortunately, he and Bookman were off to start their journey to Bulgaria in an hour so his safety was assured.
Temporarily, at least.
"Daisuki," he responded briefly.
The Chinese watched him form the corner of her eyes. "Daisuki? Are you sure that's correct? I don't want to get embarrassed by saying the wrong term."
"Are you doubting my knowledge, Linalee? " He pretended to look offended.
"No, it's not that. I just-"
"Trust me," he cut in. "Come on, would I ever do something to embarrass you?"
Linalee turned her head sideways to stare at him. A short moment of silence came in between them. And then, she shrugged. "Well, I believe you won't."
Rabi merely gave a meaningful smile as a response.

She hummed a lively tune as she leaned back against the hard, brick wall, her eyes focused on nothing but the path to her right. She was waiting for him---for the boy with the long, black hair and the ever present scowl. He was set to leave for Vienna and she wanted to say goodbye.
And, of course, to show him her new knowledge about his language.
She saw him approaching a few seconds later; she slightly smiled as she stood up straight and greeted him with a warm, "Hello."
He momentarily stopped in front of her, and answered with a cold and sharp, "What are you doing here?"
But she simply ignored his lack of friendly warmth, and replied, "To see you off."
"Che." He snorted, before walking past her, hiding the very faint smile that crossed his lips. She, on the other hand quickly followed behind him. But as he stepped out of the gate, she stopped and remained behind Alestina. Silently, she watched him walked further. And then she took a deep, long breath. Afterwards, she yelled his name.
"Kanda!"
But he didn't stop nor look back.
But she didn't mind.
"Daisuki!"
Upon hearing the word, the Japanese halted in his tracks and hastily looked back. He saw Linalee smiling and waving her hand as the gate slowly came to a close. Furrowing his brow, he stared at the girl until she disappeared behind Alestina.
D-daisuki?! he repeated the word in his mind, while an incredulous expression crossed his face (which was strangely accompanied by a sudden rush of heartbeats). But this expression turned to annoyance when Alestina suddenly spoke, "Pardon me for asking but is that a blush on your face, Sir Kanda?"
Kanda glared at the talking gate. "Shut up,Gatekeeper!" he exclaimed ,before rushing out of the headquarters' grounds, leaving Alestina sighing.
"My, Sir Kanda is always so ill-tempered."
