Peeta wakes up beside her and blinked touching the collar. He looked around in a panic. 'Katniss..."

"Peeta?" for once, Katniss doesn't wake up screaming - and for one, foolish second she'd allowed herself to feel good about that, at least until she'd heard Peeta speak. There's a note beside her which she snatches up to read.

Peeta caught sight of her picking up the note. "What's it say?"

"I..." she feels like she's going to be sick. Katniss tugs at the collar around her neck, hears the faint beeping to boot. This is the Capitol's work. It's something they would do, without a doubt. Maybe they're even being filmed right now. "You read it," she murmurs after a long moment, passing the crumpled piece of paper back to him.

He took it and read it, glancing around seeing they were the only two there. He swallowed a lump down. This wasn't how he'd wanted this to ever happen.

Katniss feels small, weak and utterly powerless because once again, the Capitol has proved that they own them. Things could be worse. It could have been someone other than Peeta. She's heard stories about how they hurt Finnick Odair after his games.

She squeezes her eyes shut for a moment, rallying up the courage and shoving down the awkwardness. "Okay. Let's just-- do it." After all, she's a survivor above most other things.

Peeta didn't seem happy about how this was happening. If they ever got somewhere stable this was supposed to be the memory of their first time? He didn't like it as was evidenced by how angry he was getting about it.

She wasn't thinking about the future at all; unlike Peeta, Katniss only thought of how they were going to get out of this. Maybe three hours was a lie. Either way, it wasn't going to help if Peeta was going to sit there winding up. And she could see how angry he was just by the expression on his face.

So Katniss sits up, takes a deep breath, and then leans in to kiss him, as soft as she can.

That managed to surprise him enough to distract him from his anger. He kissed her back besides it wasn't her he was angry at.

At least he's kissing back. At least he wasn't so angry as to be completely unreachable. She slips herself a little closer, kisses him a little more insistently in response. She doesn't know if she wants to do this, or if she's even ready but...the Capitol isn't giving her an out, anyways.

Katniss doesn't let herself waver, though. She doesn't let any of her inner thoughts show.

He continued the kiss a hand stroking her cheek letting her know without saying that he loved her.

She shifts closer, her knee brushing his on the bed while her arm slipped around his back. Kissing is something she can navigate, at least. Further than that is where it all starts to get uncertain.
