[Vane's been home for a while. Really, he's glad. But the issue is that he's been head over heels for his Jack, which is something he never expected -- not that he had a problem with that, and far from it. She was good to him even before he considered the possibility of an emotional entanglement.
Maybe it's cheesy to slide her a pair of cards face-to-face, which, when revealed, are the Two and the Jack of Clubs. Maybe it's cheesy to turn on the music that plays a quiet but determined classical tune featuring a piano. Maybe it's cheesy to kneel in front of her, take one of her hands in his.]

Even if she really, quite frankly, could not have been more surprised than she is right now.
It's silly, perhaps; that after Ethan and the Dafydd she had considered that she just wasn't meant for romance. And, really, she was okay with that -- well, as okay as one could ever be. ]

He never quite felt... right about the division of chores and duties that dreadful week when they decided Mina couldn't hanlde man's work. So much suffering by putting someone so intelligent and capable out. He knew in the end it was due to the fear of her getting hurt. And she wound up fighting and triumphing over a hold on her very soul.
A year and three months after the death of the Count, it's simply he, Mina, and their baby boy. Who woke up crying in the middle of the night. It should be a woman's job but... perhaps the baby is not hungry and Mina is in deep sleep. So he goes off to see Quincey. When and if Mina finds him, he's struggling with the two month old despite the adoring smile on his face.
[ooc: I figure they think Vlad is dead and well, not he's still Dracula and the Count.]

Mina wakes up a little while later and, finding herself alone, makes her way toward the baby's room -- Quincey has largely been a well-behaved baby but seems to have taken a turn this last week.
She scrubs the sleep from her eyes, smiling as she holds out her arms for the baby: "Poor darling, I think he might teething."
[ooc: Okie-dokie! I also realize that babies aren't supposed to start teething until three months but fudging details for the purposes of RP and cuteness!]

He's trying so hard to jostle the baby to sleep. If.. they only had a manual for these sorts of thing. If... only.
Still he makes a perfectly good go at it, singing all the lullabies that Mina's sung to their little son and their. But the tiny little thing remains fussy.
"... really? Is that something Mrs. Baker told you?" Mrs. Baker being the Housekeeper of sorts. It was only Mrs. Baker and Ms. Clemmens and possibly a nanny. Possibly.
