Clark doesn't often come out to the West Coast, but since his grandfather lives just outside L.A. in Coast City, he can't pass up an opportunity to check out some of the local organic grocers. Especially if he thinks he can get away with putting healthy food in someone's fridge.

With that aim in mind, he's wandering down each aisle, tossing what he thinks will help a senior citizen stay fit into the cart, and enjoying a rare chance to relax.

The vegetables are somewhere in the middle of his mental list, and there is a collection of bagged fruits and veggies huddled inside his basket already. Clark glances up from gently checking avocados to see which ones are ripe and hastily takes a step to the side.

"Go ahead. Didn't mean to block anyone, sorry."

He eyes her in some small measure of amusement. "You don't sing about it, or anything, right?" There's a vague memory in his head of watching television with his mom in those first fuzzy years about some comedian's song on chopping broccoli. "And you're welcome. Always glad to aid in healthy eating habits."

Since she's moving around, he vacates that particular section to rummage through the lettuce and other greens a little ways down.

"Only in the shower, for which I'm sure the world is fairly grateful." He grins, obviously amused, and carefully bags a nice looking Romaine lettuce and some decent bean sprouts. In separate bags, obviously.

"What about you?"

He blinks, cocks his head to one side and studies her for a minute, before aiming a head of cabbage in her direction.

"Brave woman. I'm terrible at public performance." He stops threatening her with the vegetable and bags it for his collection. "What instruments?"

"True." He plucks the indicated greenery from the top of the pile and holds it out so she can grab and bag herself. Clark's beginning to think this store has turned into a safari what with all the hunting for deals and carts with edible treasure.

"None of the above. I write for a newspaper."

"Daily Planet. It's based in Kansas."

Clark isn't done yet. While he has a lot of bags in his cart, the contents are of a manageable size for his grandfather to do something with. He adds a pack of small carrots to the pile.

"You wouldn't know which aisle the frozen food is located on, would you?"

He's inwardly a bit miffed that she doesn't read it outside of Nebraska, the Planet is a globally known newspaper after all, but reminds himself that not everyone has to be a voracious reader.

"Mind if I tag along? Just until I get the hang of this place. Unless I'm being a bother?"
