Some would probably think that given Sam's past, she wouldn't like a man being rough with her but she was quite the opposite when it came to Derek. She felt completely safe with him and because of that, she was able to let her guard down with so many things. She usually let him set the pace of either being rough and wild or soft and romantic but if she needed the latter, she wouldn't have any problem letting him know.

Sam was pretty much as dominant with Derek as she would ever get. She enjoyed telling him what to do to a point and sometimes pushing and tugging on him to change positions but that was the extent of her dominance. She thrived on the alpha male in Derek. Even if Sam started out with the lead, she preferred when he took over sometime before they were finished.
