[Guri actually would canonically be around for all of these, and I'm at least passing familiar with all of them except Belle Epoque, so knock yourselves out, y'all.]

(ooc: Ten is awesome! Adam is probably in Chicago, making the best of hard times and possibly running some business of questionable reputable. Flappers likely, zombies optional. Would you like to start or should I?)

Being a roman soldier is not all it was cracked up to be. All right, so it was not really cracked up to be anything, but Erik had pride and honour as a soldier he would never have known as a blacksmith. He had clothes on his back and a sword in his hand, and that was enough.

People might say he was just more fodder for the ranks, but he worked hard and fought as though the gods were behind him.

Right now, he wasn't nearly as certain of that as he might have been other times. Battle battered and bruised, he was walking the town they had just defeated, looking for stragglers and traitors, his sword firm in his hand. His fellow soldiers burning buildings to send a message. Nothing about war seemed great and glorious when you were in the midst of it.

Charles wasn't a soldier by any standard. He was just a simple man who worked in order to keep himself fed and a roof over his head. Something that wasn't easy but he managed it.

So when the war waged within his town he'd helped who he could get out. It didn't give him much time to do the same. Though he was going to damn well try.

Erik caught sight of the other man on his way through the town. He drew his sword, with the slightest reluctance. He may have been a soldier, but he had joined this army to fight other soldiers, not raid towns or slaughter unarmed civilians.

"Halt! Stay where you are. Hands where I can see them." He kept his voice low, not wanting to attract the attention of his fellow soldiers who took too much enjoyment from these tasks.
