It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do ( Read more... )

Admittedly, being well past two in the morning, it was a little unusual to be holed up in the tiny diner on the hotel's bottom floor, but the people running the place didn't seem to mind as long as she paid for the food. She's slumped over a plate of chips on one of the stools at the high counter, head propped up on one hand, staring blankly at a clock on the wall.

Hey there! second_son83 December 10 2011, 20:08:03 UTC
Honestly, he couldn't stand Dean's snoring anymore. Oddly enough on most nights it would put him right to sleep. But tonight it just kept him awake and staring at the ceiling wasn't helping either. By the 18th time he looked at the clock, it finally said two and his stomach decided it was food time. Sam remembered that there was a small but well graded diner on the first floor and decided to give it a shot. He got himself dressed and left a note for Dean that said Down stairs getting food. Got my phone. just in case the elder Winchester woke up and started freaking out, and considering Dean's previous freak outs when Sam disappeared, was highly likely.

Sam headed down to the high counter and sat a few seats away from the blonde girl who looked to be the only other occupant of the diner. Ordering a turkey club and an iced-tea he glanced over at the young woman sitting down from him.

A friend and I have been talking with the person that plays your brother! =D huffpuffblonde December 10 2011, 20:14:43 UTC
She poked at her chips with a fork, more nudging them around her plate than anything. She was't particularly hungry, but chips were comfort food and she couldn't sleep. She wasn't really expecting anyone else to bother coming down, this place was small, not exactly a hot spot, it probably didn't have a vast selection of guests or paying customers.

That, combined with the fact that it was past two in the morning made her glance over in interest at the newcomer. She caught the tail end of his look and glanced away again. She should say hello, be friendly, do something that probably wouldn't be construed as creepy given the time of night.

"Can't sleep?" That's right, Rose. Nosiness is the best way to make friends.

I heard! :) second_son83 December 10 2011, 20:25:29 UTC
He was kinda shocked that anybody else would be up and around besides the person working the diner so when the girl was there it made him feel better. Made him feel less of a random creepy guy that was up at 2am. Sam raised his eye brows as she spoke, looking over at her and her lonely plate of french fries. He smiled softly and shifted on his stool as he spoke.

"Yeah. My roommate snores like a T-Rex so no sleeping for me tonight. What about you?" His iced-tea arrived and he fixed it up the way he liked, two packets of Sweet-n-low. He liked things on the sweeter side.

What was it with Americans and iced tea? It seemed like a waste of perfectly good regular tea to her, but she'd never really tried the stuff. Something about it made her inner stuffy British lady frown.

She shrugged a bit, waving a hand and nudging another potato-bit around her plate. "I'm on sort of a... work... thing. Not really a fan of hotels. Bit worried about someone back home, if I'm honest. Thankfully, no dinosaurs in my bedroom."

I think it's cute. I only know the 11th Doctor and a little bit about Rose but it sounds fun! second_son83 December 10 2011, 20:48:32 UTC
Sam blinked a few times in surprise as she spoke. He didn't really hear her accent the first time she spoke but now he could tell that she really wasn't from around here. He was gonna place her accent somewhere in Great Britain. Where in Great Britain was a completely different story and he kinda knew that if you called them one thing and there were from another area, they'd be pissed. So he figured he'd just ask her and be safer.

"I know how that goes. The whole work thing. My job's got me keepin' some really weird hours," he agreed, nodding a bit and stirred his tea with the long skinny spoon sticking out of it. "I gotta ask. Where are you from?"

No worries! I only know a bit about SPN myself, it's just for the fun, really! Have you an aim mebe? huffpuffblonde December 10 2011, 20:55:07 UTC
She wasn't really an American kind of girl, though she had been to New New York- which was a long story, honestly. It was only due to unfortunate weather that she was even there for the next day or two. Normally, she'd be in and out of a job like this in less than one.

"You and me both, mate. Weird hours, and loads of traveling. Starting to think they should stick diners like this in every hotel." She popped a chip into her mouth, and was mid chew at the question. She shot him a wry smile. "London. England. What about you?"

All American accents sounded the same to her, except for the way north and the deep south.

He nodded as he completely agreed with her. "Lots and lots of traveling. It's like you never stop moving," he nodded before taking a sip from his glass, thinking that he's been to every state at least 4 times except for Hawaii and Alaska. And he wasn't even 30. Wow...

"London? Awesome. Been there once, but only briefly. Had some work to do in Scotland. But I'm from Kansas. Not as cool as London," he said, his dimples digging into his cheeks for the first time in a while.

w00t awesome, we're on a roll. huffpuffblonde December 10 2011, 21:23:37 UTC
"I love it, though. Traveling," She nodded. She's been all over the United Kingdom- significantly smaller than America, but still- different parts of the world. Usually there's less travel time involved, considering the technology the company she worked for had at it's disposal.

"Scotland's lovely, as long as they don't try and make you eat the food. In fact, I'd just stay away from our lot's food, in general." She grinned. "You can go all over the world, but nothing tastes as good as it does in America. I've never been to Kansas, but I have watched Wizard of Oz."

"Yeah, barely smelled the haggis and turned the other way," he chuckled a little, his plate arriving. "But I have to say, the fried toast is pretty good. And Irish bacon. Good breakfast right there."

He and Dean had been to a few pubs cross country. But the haggis thing, yeah... that happened and woah man. None for him thanks. And there was the usual Wizard of Oz comment that came up every time anybody even mentioned Kansas. He should be used to it by now. Never was though. It was weird. It was kinda like telling somebody from New York that you've seen Rent. Hmmm. Anyway.

"Wizard of Oz is a pretty good movie. Been near a tornado but never in one. And sadly, I haven't seen any witches fly." But oh man has I killed some, he mused to himself , taking a bite of the pickle slice on his plate.

"Funny, they give you french toast, Irish bacon, and call it a full English breakfast." She shook her head. Don't worry. She wasn't a fan of Haggis, either. Took one look at the stuff, wrinkled her nose, and went the other way. They had pretty great alcohol, though, if she did say so herself.

And to be fair, she wasn't from America. Everywhere she went, here, she mentioned London and somebody asked her about tea, or the Queen, or tried (and failed) to do an English accent. She could sympathize with his stereotype plight. "Nope, no witches for me, either, though I did see a flying monkey once."

She nodded. Someone could take her as joking. She totally wasn't. She really has seen flying monkeys, though they turned out to be alien. Go figure.

"No. No. It had the whole thing. Fried egg, beans, tomato, toast and bacon. It was really good," he corrected her. And Sam knew better than to even try an English accent. Listening to Dean try it drunk though was pretty funny though.

"Flying monkeys huh? I haven't seen any of those yet. And I've seen some pretty weird shit," he added, taking a bite of his sandwich.

"That's brilliant, don't let 'em skimp you just because you're from outta town. Also, they charge extra for ice." She nodded, taking a sip of her milkshake.

Ooh, an 'I've seen some weird stuff' conversation. She loved those. "Five quid says I've seen weirder."

He wasn't gonna tell her that that particular breakfast came from a British pub in America cause that would just make things confusing. He'd just let it slide, taking another small bite of his food.

"I don't know. My job has taken me to some weird places." Hell, for example.

She'd just end up arguing an American full-English wasn't as god as an English full-English, but the ice thing was useful for later on.

"Me, too. Like, really, really weird." Hell, no, but she had been to the future, past, and various alien planets. Also, she met the devil? "Let's hear a story then, go on."
