"IT'S A TRAP!" - Michelle Obama, HIV testing, Kenya, Barry's home country
Michelle Obama: “AIDS Is Spread By Homophobia” & “Kenya is Barack’s Home Country” This leads to a 30 second video of Michelle Obama speaking to ... some alphabetsexual group. (Edit: Got it via Glenn Beck - Gay and Lesbian Leadership council of the DNC.)
There are two key points, one of which is certainly going to go viral. Moment #1: It appears she says HIV Is Spread By Homophobia. Moment #2: She actually says, "When we took a trip to Africa and visited his home country in Kenya" Lovely. Rarely do people refer to the country of their ancestry as the "home country" in such a way.
But wait! Put on the brakes! Why?
Do not fall for this.
First, the video is from 2008. How did a video edited to mid sentence from the GLBTABC-DNC in 2008 just come out now? Was it leaked by someone trying to do the right thing, or is it far more likely a setup?
To #1: The video starts mid sentence and mid point. I have a feeling in context she is saying the failure to get testing is due to homophobia. Both are stupid, but the latter less so. That's just typical progressive/Liberal pointing to a favorite victimhood cause to blame rather than taking and advocating responsibility.
To #2: No, I don't think this speaks to her belief Obama was born Kenyan. What it does speak to is the typical Liberal communicating with subtext other Liberals understand. Among Liberals/progressives/Democrats it is a point of pride to be as far from American, white, straight, religious, in possession of personal responsibility or in any other way normal/average as possible. To refer to Kenya as his "home country" is likely simply her way of emphasizing to a receptive audience that Barry is better than a typical American by virtue of identifying with a foreign country.
None of that matters!
There are two reasons this was released.
The first is so the "birthers" go wild. This will set them on fire, and in turn allow the Pravda media and Democrats to continue the dishonest narrative of association with the Tea Parties, painting them as the fringe. The "birther" issue polls well for Liberals in a time when the most polarizing and radical President since possibly the Civil War needs good polls.
The second is so at the next Tea Party there is one idiot with a sign that reads "his home country of Kenya". Then the Pravda media will show nothing but that sign out of a crowd of thousands, allowing them to segue to claims the Tea Party are "Birthers" AND racist. Please don't take the bait.
Note: There is one good argument to be made regarding the "Birther" discussion, and this is it. Other than that please stay far from this issue. It is exactly what they want.
