It's almost here. And things are really looking up for Obama. Here's hoping everything goes smoothly till November 4th. Some of my scattered thoughts below...

Alaska's largest newspaper, the Anchorage Daily News, just endorsed Obama. What on earth was McCain thinking when he chose Palin as his VP? Not to be harsh, but they've made her the sex symbol of the Republican Party. It's just sad. (I miss Hillary's pantsuits.)
The McCain volunteer who claimed to be robbed and attacked by an Obama supporter was officially declared nuts and sent to jail. I think that story could have really caused a lot of panic. Shame on her for being so stupid.

Lots of GOP officials have come out and endorsed Obama. Some feel like the focus should now be on saving their seats in Congress. If Dems do end up winning the majority in Congress, I hope they use their power wisely...

I really liked McCain 4 years ago. The party has changed him into a different person. I don't think you can be a maverick and the leader of the GOP "establishment" at the same time. The two ideas are completely contradictory. He's better off in the Senate.

But let's not forget New Hampshire. During the Democratic primaries, all the media reported that Obama had NH in the bag. And people came out en masse in support of Hillary on voting day. Obama has had the sense to warn his supporters about getting too cocky. I don't know if they were all listening.

People have turned out in record numbers to register to vote and to vote early. Some states are reporting difficulties processing all the registration forms. Here's hoping they have it all squared away by election day, because it will be tragic if voters who thought they were registered to vote were turned away at the polls. And hopefully there are no/few glitches with the voting machines. If there are, they should have backups... and backups for the backups.

I haven't been doing any volunteering lately. I even removed all my Obama pins that I've been wearing everyday for the past almost 2 years. I have a whole bunch of leftover "Independents for Obama" stickers that I might mail to some swing state.   :)   Other than that, I'm laying low. No phone banking. I think people are sick of hearing from Obama people. It's important to give them time to make up their own minds.
