*gulp* YESSS!!! Superman literally snapped Zod's neck full blown Linda Blair style. Superman pretty much fights Zod in both Smallville and Metropolis. He doesn't move the fight to some remote location. Instead he fights him in a populated city, and Zod is using his heat vision ready to fry a family. So Superman snaps his neck, and then Superman screams in anguish. Lois comes over and gives him a hug, and that's pretty much it. After that Superman is a happy-go-lucky guy. It was horrible. Oh, and Metropolis and Smallville were pretty much destroyed to the point of 9/11 size *sniff*. I mean literally millions of people were killed and/or hurt while Lois and Superman are kissing. Superman was reckless, careless, and....ugh. Plus the action lasted for 30 minutes!! After doing a rewatch a few years ago I found a new appreciation for Smallville. Yet, after watching Man of Steel I discovered an even more new appreciation for the show lol. The series wasn't perfect, but they were respectful and the series showed how Clark became the man who (sort of) put on the Superman suit.
Steve Rogers is such an interesting character. He is one of the few boy scout-like characters in the Marvel Universe. He is a little jaded, but he stands his ground for what is moral and right. Sometimes that even means to go against the government, his friends, and SHIELD. He's jaded, good, and has a that loveable pure heart. Which is pretty much who is. It really makes him interesting in the modern world. Man, I can't wait for the sequel. It's so hard not to look at the spoiler candid pictures. I'm really looking forward to Steve's growth considering what is going on in the sequel. I miss my baby!!
They are afraid of Supes' good guy image. It's like "let's make it dark and edgy" so it will be modern and new. Ugh. You might as well call him Ultraman lol. I think if one also gets things too seriously then a lot of logic is even more flawed. Hell, I thought Marvel's MCU is more realistic than DCU is lol. They at least contained the damage and protected innocents from the alien invasion.
Well, that is pretty much the point of Eric's descent into darkness. Remember the line in the movie where Eric says he is finding his creator? The tragedy of Eric is that he is doing exactly what the Nazis did to him all those years ago. Xavier tried to reason with him, but Eric was just too far gone and damaged to come back. At least that is what I got from the movie and comics *shrugs*.
Yea, he is using Eric's kids Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver. The understanding I have is that Fox and Marvel/Disney both have the rights to these characters. I guess the studios are both working things out on it. To me it really sounds like they are trying to spread the MCU even wider if they can. I heard that for right now they are sidestepping the origin of those two characters. I mean they won't go into detail about Eric because it is about his kids and their interaction with the Avengers. His kids eventually become a part of the Avengers' team. It's really complicated.
The new X-Men movie is based on a time travelling comic book. It connects the past, present, and future. It is going to also fix some questions, noticeable plot holes, and I think it is a great likely to save Cyclops and Jean Grey. So in a way it is new X-Men movie with a quasi-reboot. Pretty much think of the alternate timelines like in Abrams' Star Trek movies. The graphic novel is one of my personal favorites. So in Singer's hands they can fix what went wrong on X-Men 3: The Last Stand. Oh, and Wolverine's new movie next month connects somehow too.
I haven't seen the documentary yet, but now I definitely do. It just filled in a lot of holes I thought when I was younger about those Avonlea days. I guess two Canadian newspapers figured it out. The writers told Sarah and their editor they weren't running it out of respect for Sarah, her family, and biological father. They told her because some journalists might find out and won't care. So she took the personal matter in own hands.
LMAO @ DCU Joke lol....that explains a lot lol....They are seriously telling us Superboy, Robin, and etc never did that?! It definitely makes me laugh out loud.
Oh man! They really don't get the most basic thing about Superman! I'm going to read your review. If you are going to cross that massive line of having Superman kill the very least you can do is give it proper judge afterwards. A scream of pain is not enough. Nor do hugs from Lois make up things. Clearly WB/DC was trying to go big with the city and loss of life, but you cannot do things like that just willy-nilly! And people are dying while Superman is kissing Lois? Blah! Superman is so much smarter then having a battle in the middle of a city with massive loss of life if he can help it. The whole thing just makes me go "Why?!". Smallville had it's ups and downs but IMO by the end of the series it got Superman, it got who Clark was meant to be. And you can forgive those times when Clark was less then his best self because that's what growing up is! Why make a Superman movie is you are too afraid to stand by the core of the character? Why not pick another DC character where things are more intune with who they really are? I get that Superman, alone with Batman and Wonder woman, are DC's heavy hinters and they want what Marvel has with it's movies, but this is the wrong way to go about it. Very, very very wrong. Sad thing with the money it made, WB/DC is going to think this is way to go and keep this crap up. I'm worried about their next Superhero movie.:( LOL at calling him Ultraman. Yeah the Avengers tried to keep things in check. I love how the group tried to keep things contained to part of the city. I know it was so they could control things, but it was also to save lives!
It sounds hugely complicated. In some ways I like the simpleness of not having mutants in the movies's universe, because things are just so big! But in other ways there is so much richness missing because the x-man and F4 aren't involved. They've done a great job with their movies so far so I gotta have faith they will work things out for the best with whatever they do.
Sounds cool! Anything that fixes the awful third x-man movie and the beloved characters who got shafted in it is good in my books.
That's wonderfully kind of those two newspappers. I am always supprised when newspapaers show humanity by picking people over a story. I'm very glad she was am to take control of the situration.
LOL it explains so much... it explains so much of Batman lol:p It's one of those things you know the lady didn't mean to be funny, but I enjoyed it.
Cool beans :). My review is pretty much a wild rant, but it was great to get off my chest lol.
Smallville had it's ups and downs but IMO by the end of the series it got Superman, it got who Clark was meant to be. And you can forgive those times when Clark was less then his best self because that's what growing up is!
You nailed it on the head hun. I was tougher on Man of Steel because it is grounded in that so-called "realism". Smallville was racked over the coals by so many, but looking back I think people were too hard on the show. I know I was guilty of it when I was involved in the crazy fandom. However, once I got out of it I realized what a great show it was. How they kept true to who Clark Kent and Co. were. Heck, I felt the new SV comic books are better written than whatever I saw on Crap of Steel.
Yeah the Avengers tried to keep things in check. I love how the group tried to keep things contained to part of the city. I know it was so they could control things, but it was also to save lives! Exactly!! Joss Whedon is a fan of the comics and Avengers. He knows these characters like the back of his hand. He knew Captain America would deliver orders to make sure they contained the damage the best they could. Heck, Iron Man pretty much died saving NYC!! He gave his life. I did see any of these acts of heroism from Superman in the new movie *shrugs*.
It sounds hugely complicated. In some ways I like the simpleness of not having mutants in the movies's universe, because things are just so big! But in other ways there is so much richness missing because the x-man and F4 aren't involved.
It is complicated *nods*. I don't think Whedon and Marvel will put the mutant gene to heavily in Avengers 2. It sounds like from interviews he is focusing on the interesting dynamic Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will bring to the Avengers. Meanwhile, in the new X-Men movie the storyline is far more complicated between time travel, Sentinels, and brutal alternate future. You know me I love both groups, so I hope it all works out. Btw, did you hear they are rebooting the F4? It's something I don't mind, but I will miss Chris Evans' Torch and Michael's Thing, but at least we still have Evans in Captain America hehe.
Sounds cool! Anything that fixes the awful third x-man movie and the beloved characters who got shafted in it is good in my books.
With time travel involved a new future will have to be made. I don't see how it couldn't *shrugs*. The third X-Men movie is the only one I can't stand in the franchaise. There were aspects of it I enjoyed, but it just floundered in the end. I didn't like how they did The Dark Phoenix at all. I love all of the other X-Men movies though. It's going to be quite exciting to be a X-Men fan next year!!
Btw, I finished Rick Riordan's The Serpent's Shadow and The Lost Hero and WOW!! I wrote short reviews about each book on my livejournal here: http://melsummers.livejournal.com/51518.html
I'm just curious to hear your thoughts on those books as well. I know you are way ahead of me on the reading this time hehe.
I was pretty hard on Smallville too, specially as it was just airing. Being in the fandom is wraps everything. It's why I'm not in the Doctor Who fandom and Once Upon a Time fandom outside of group of friends. My jets have cooled and I've grown up a bit myself now. I am still a little iffy on the middle years, but I love the begining and the ending years. It was great show that took on a lot and did pretty well in the end.
WB/DC should've took advance of Joss for Wonder Woman when they had the chance. He knows heroes, actions and good story telling.
Yes, I did hear that about F4. I'm really going to miss Chris and Micheal too. Mick was the best Thing! I am excited for the recast of Susan as much as I love Jessica. IMO it didn't work too well trying to white wash the actress. Maybe a younger or flesher take on the character would be great. It worked for Spiderman and X-Men! Shame they couldn't just keep one of the actors like X-Man did with Huge Jackmen. If the casting is prefect don't change it lol
Agreed about X-Man the Last Stand. It's one of the few movies I walked out of seeing with big angry face. I had such high hopes. At least we got a reboot to carry on with the beloved characters.
I am still one book behind in brother/sister series, but I'm so glad you got to read the Lost Hero! I love that book so much. I'll look at your review for that one, but not the only one as I do plan to read that series if I ever get the time.
HAHA! You know me I'm full of passion especially on things that bug the crap out of me lol.

I totally agree *nods*. I think fandoms of anything can ruin an experience of something. There are some positives with online fandoms, but in this day and age I haven't seen too much of them *shrugs*. I do find some places to chat, but they are very very small communities hehe.
You know I did a major semi-rewatch prior to S9's airing, but I really grew to love the middle years myself. I don't know if it was because I watched S6-S8 primarly on dvd, stayed clear of the fandom *shrugs*, or because I was older when I watched them. When I watched all of the seasons from beginning to end I was really blown away with what they did with SV. It's totally leaps and bounds over Crap of Steel.

I was always mixed about Jessica Alba, but I did enjoy her interaction with Evans. It sounds like they want a fresh start like what they did with The Amazing Spider-Man. I'm so excited that the new Spider-Man series will span over four movies!! Sounds like they have an outline on what they want to accomplish.

You know in a strange way without X-Men: The Last Stand we might not have gotten X-Men: Days of Future Past. If it was well made, then the new future might have been something we might not like really. It's kinda neat how things work out. I just hope it means the X-Men can save Jean Grey and Cyclops (afterall we never saw his body!!).
I am still one book behind in brother/sister series, but I'm so glad you got to read the Lost Hero! I love that book so much. I'll look at your review for that one, but not the only one as I do plan to read that series if I ever get the time.
D'oh, I forgot you were behind on The Kane Chronicles. Yea, totally skip that part of the review. I really loved it. I would totally recommend picking up the paperback version of The Serpent's Shadow, so you can read the short story where Percy Jackson and Carter Kane meet. It goes right into the Heroes of Olympus novels.
