Favorite episode(s): "Pilot", "No Quarter", "The Plague Dogs", "Soul Train", "The Children's Crusade", "Kashmir", "Nobody' Fault But "Mine", "The Stand", "Ghosts", "The Night Lights Went Out in Georgia", "Home", "The Love Boat", "The Longest Day", and "The Dark Tower" (Season Finale)
Least Favorite Episode: I don't think I have one truthfully. All of the episodes were really good and important to the season's storylines. I just love some episodes more than others hehe.
Favorite storyline(s): I had so many storylines that I loved. I'm a huge fan of the Matheson family storyline. Eric Kripke and J.J. Abrams are terrific at the heartfelt family storylines. The Matheson Family have their own faults, but they are learning to be there for one another after a long separation. The second storyline I love is the complex one surrounding Miles and Monroe. It is so complicated that Neville made a great comedic line about it lol. I also loved the tough father and son storyline surrounding hard-nose Tom Neville and his compassionate son Jason Neville. I loved the entire journey in getting Danny back, and turning the lights back on. I was really impressed with how many questions they answered, but they just didn't give it to us right away. They gave it us when the time was right.
Least Favorite Storyline: None, what can I say I love everything about this show!!
Favorite Dramatic Scene: Wow, there is so many that I love truly. However, there are three that I remember the most in the season.
First, in "Kashmir" Charlie is grazed in the skull by a bullet after saving her Uncle Miles. She is also suffering from the lack of oxygen, and hits her head on a hard stone step. She looks in really bad shape to the point that her deceased father talks to her in her dream-like (or is she close to death....you decide). Her father tells it is okay to rest and not to worry about anything. While Charlie is dreaming Miles is yelling and pleading for her to wake up....to just open her eyes for him *sniff*. Charlie hears her uncle's pleas, and she wakes up with a smiling Miles. The whole scene was delivered terrifically by Tracey, Billy, and the creative team.
Second, in "The Plague Dogs" was the death of Maggie *sniff*. Maggie was such an interesting character who tragically died early on. For several years she was the only mother figure Charlie and Danny knew. It got to the point that Charlie understood and stopped rebelling against Maggie which made Maggie's death scene all the more tragic. The actress who played Maggie did a terrific job during her death scene, and while the reaction form Tracey just brings so much emotion. Tracey can portray Charlie as a badass and hard-nose one minute, and then she can make her lip quiver like a little girl that just tugs the heartstrings. Maggie tells her Charlie will be okay, and she isn't alone but to Charlie she feels differently. Her mother left her (long story), her father died, her brother has been taken by the Monroe Militia, and now her last mother figure has died in front of her *sniff*. Charlie even tells Maggie she will be okay, but it is too late Maggie bleeds out. Charlie is just yelling "NOOOOO!!!" and not to leave her too because everyone leaves her. At this moment, Miles steps up to the plate and takes responsibility for looking out for his niece even more. This the moment the Charlie and Miles bond goes into overdrive to the next step. Man, everything was just perfect, and yet so tragic. I know people were so upset with Maggie's death, but sadly needed for the Matheson family dyamnic.
Lastly, the death of Nora *sniff* in the season finale "The Dark Tower". Nora's death symbolized so much of what the cost of turning the lights on. Where Charlie and Miles' priorities lie which is with people they care about. Charlie, Aaron, and Jason are moral compasses on the show. Charlie literally pleads with her mother to stay, so they can take care of Nora first and then turn the lights on. Rachel declines and she goes to turn the lights on. During this time Charlie is nearly killed by protecting a mortally-wounded Nora and herself during the siege of The Tower. Thankfully, Miles saves Charlie from certain death!! Nora has told Charlie and Miles, together and separately, to go help Rachel, but they don't do it. They stick with Nora to the bitter end, and sadly that end is Nora's life *sniff*. I was so proud of Charlie and Miles for being there for Nora considering how much she has been there for them. Charlie and Nora are pretty sisters in my eyes. They protect, support, and care for another. It was perfectly fitted that Miles and Charlie were there for her. It really brought me to tears by the acting done by Tracey and Billy. The death of Nora also lays trouble ahead for Rachel and Charlie in the coming season. I don't know how they are going work this out, but I can't wait to watch it!!
Favorite romantic scene: The romantic ship I love the most has to be Jason Neville and Charlie Matheson's, so my favorite moment from this season would have to be their first kiss in the hospital room *squeels*. The lighting of that scene was beautiful, kissing was natural, and you can just see the spark between these two go to the next level.
Favorite comedy scene: Miles threatening to beat Jason's "boy band" face, and Jason replies by asking Charlie "What's a boy band?" LOL!! After all Charlie and Jason didn't grow up with boy bands, so the pop culture reference insult goes over Jason's head lol.
Favorite character(s): I really love all of the characters. However, if I had to have my top six listed, then it would be (in no order): Charlie, Jason, Miles, Aaron, Neville, and Monroe.
Least favorite character(s): None, what can I say I stay away from fandoms lol.
Favorite guest star(s): Colm Feore, Kim Raver, David Meunier, Mark Pellegrino, and Colin Ford
Favorite couple(s): Jason/Charlie, Rachel/Miles, and Miles/Nora
Favorite friendship(s): Miles/Charlie, Danny/Charlie, Charlie/Nora, Charlie/Maggie, Aaron/Charlie, Miles/Monroe, and Aaron/Rachel. I think that is it, but I'm not sure lol.
What did you think of the season in general? I thought for the first season it was fantastic!! It had a consistent theme and direction. There was a different flow with every character and storyline. I was really impressed with the show's first season, and I'm glad the show got renewed for their second season. I can't wait for what is ahead for the world, characters, relationships, and those nukes!!
