Review of Revenge's "Chaos" -- Lies, Murder, & It's Only the Beginning!!
The first 14 episodes were leading up to the ending of "Chaos". We knew where nearly every character was at the Fire & Ice Engagement Party. We now knew each of these characters, and their current mental and emotional state. In many ways half of "Chaos" we knew what was going to happen. Whereas the half of "Chaos" we did not see coming. All I know I loved the result because my boy Daniel Grayson.....LIVED!!!
Connecting "Chaos" to the "Pilot" - Sometimes "Pilot" episodes aren't served as a goal to reach for a show's first season. Here we have a show where everything led up to this Fire & Ice Engagement Party. Getting from point A to point B. I thought they did a stellar job at connecting "Chaos" to the "Pilot". In many ways the first 14 episodes served as a prologue, and "Chaos" and onward the show truly begins. I loved how they kept true to the "Pilot" in many ways from camera angles to facial expressions from the cast. The cast did a great job at portraying the same facial expressions. I wonder if they went back and rewatched the pilot. I loved how they incoorporated the new characters into the party, such as Nolan's bodyguard, Grandpa Edward Grayson, and Amanda's mentor Satoshi Takeda. It was as if they were always there, but we never saw them in the "Pilot" episode. I also loved how they incoorporated the new storylines, such as Charlotte's new pill addiction by having her drop the pills and Amanda picking it up with a very concerned sisterly-look on it (LOVE IT!!). The only noticeable difference was the fact you know they reshot the beach scenes with the dead body. The beach scene in the "Pilot" was filmed at a different angle, and might have been a different location as well. Though I must say I loved the cinematography more in "Chaos" than in the "Pilot" episode.
The Dead Body is......TYLER!!! - If you looked at my early review posts about Revenge I wasn't even thinking Tyler was the dead body. In fact, I thought he was the murderer and in some ways he could have been if he succeeded in killing Daniel lol. I really like the idea that Tyler is the dead body. Not only because it allows my boy to live, but it does make things more exciting for the murder trial. No one liked Tyler except for flip-flopping traitor Ashley. Tyler was a psychotic, unbalanced, leech that only wanted to two things....money and Daniel. The hatred for Tyler reached everyone making the murder being anyone. Nearly everyone had a motive to get rid of Tyler from this ramage. It's perfect for television story telling!! Over the course of the season I knew there was a chance for Daniel's survival, but you never know until after the ending credits roll on an episode. I knew the moment Tyler showed Emily the Infinity Box that they would team-up against Amanda. However, I loved that Emily's feelings for Amanda couldn't just be turned as quickly. Emily has every right to be angry at Amanda, but not enough to want anybody to die. Plus Emily has her own guilt because it was her that killed Frank not Amanda. Sometimes Emily and Amanda have more things in common than they think.
Daniel's Darkside Resurfaces - "Chaos" is probably one of the most pivotal episodes for Daniel Grayson's character. His life is turned upside down, and Tyler's death is only going to make things worse. Daniel now knows that the girl he is engaged to might only be involved because he is a Grayson, but I really don't know why he thought that truthfully. I love Daniel, but honey "Emily Throne" is loaded with wealth. She really doesn't need Grayson Global lol. I would love for Amanda/Emily to bring this up. However, that is least of the couples worries because now Daniel has been led into questioning Amanda/Emily's motives. The motive of slowly taking down important people connected to the Graysons. I'm looking forward to see what happens next because it's the perfect time to make things even more crazier for Daniel and Amanda/Emily.
Plus the flip side is Amanda's guilt for getting Daniel involved in her revenge schemes. Daniel, Charlotte, and Jack are the innocent bystanders and now they are all in deep trouble. Amanda's guilt may even drive Daniel and Amanda/Emily closer together. At least I hope so but I'm not counting it because they are banking on the Jack/Amanda/Daniel love triangle. I loved that Daniel said "Emily" wasn't anything like Victoria because if he only knew they were two sides of the same coin....d'oh. I love it because it's a great foreshadowing line of what is to come for Daniel's journey. I wonder what happened on that beach because Daniel looked to be knocked out. All I know is Daniel is going to go darkside, and I love that Victoria and Amanda will actually team-up somewhat to save him the best way they can.
Hints at What is to Come - Did anyone think what Conrad signed isn't the same document he wanted? Victoria is totally setting up Conrad for a fall. I don't know what she is planning, but she totally has her malipulation face on. I think it has something to do with Grayson Global. So Grandpa Edward Grayson shows his true colors in this episode. I still this character brings a lot to the family table, but he totally destroyed his granddaughter to benefit the family name and company. To think what he did to Charlotte did nothing in the grand scheme of things considering Daniel will be charged with murder of Tyler. Charlotte needs help....badly....and she is seeking comfort in the drugs and liquor to help the family name and her boyfriend Declan to get into that high quality school. This could only end badly for Charlotte and Declan *sniff*. So I was really happy to see her half-sister Amanda pick-up the pill container from Charlotte's bag. She didn't say anything, but now she knows her half-sister is suffering. It's just another consequence of Amanda's revenge schemes. Amanda may have not pulled the trigger that night, but she is an indirect cataylst for it all. So I hope Amanda comes to Charlotte's aid in the last quarter of the show's first season. It might have only been me, but I thought I saw concern from Amanda's face picking up that pill container.
I love that both Charlotte and Daniel called for Victoria and not Conrad when things got crazy at the beach. Victoria did say they would, and they did. Conrad tried to destory his children's relationship with their mother, and who did they call for when trouble brewed? Their mother.....D'OH!! Declan and Charlotte saw a hoodied figure on the beach that night, and they know he touched the body. So to the Graysons the hoodied figure is the murderer not Daniel. Knowing someone is out there I don't see Victoria letting that go. We also have Nolan's cameras all over the place. You would think the cameras picked something up, and the camera on Jack's boat would have recorded the time when Jack left to chase after "Amanda". In other words nearly every character is in danger or responsible except for Ashley. Though I have a feeling Ashley is going to cause some trouble because of her selfish agendas.
The Murderer Is........? - I totally don't think the real Emily Throne is the murderer. I think she is merely a red herring. I didn't see any gun on her either. The person that could have killed Tyler wore gloves and black jacket. He could be a henchman for someone, such as Conrad, Victoria, Satoshi Takeda, or Edward Grayson. Heck, the murderer could be Tyler's brother to protect people from Tyler's crazy ways. Nearly everyone has a motive either for revenge or protection. Supposely we are suppose to find out who the murderer is in the next new episode, so the trial and the aftermath is going to be one crazy ride until the season finale.
Overall, I thought the episode was pretty stellar and gave this Daniel Grayson fan some joyful happiness hehe. I'm not looking forward to the Jack/Amanda/Daniel triangle because I totally agree with Declan that Jack is in loved with a girl he met a very very long time ago when they were children. It just doesn't fly with me either, but I'm totally biased because I love me some Daniel/Amanda love hehe. Anywho, I really loved this episode and I loved how it connected to the "Pilot". I can't wait to see what happens next!!
