so, i went to one of the natural food grocery stores to pick up some groceries. $45 later i just have a bunch of exotic complementary items that couldn't make a single meal. i don't know how i ever did all my shopping at those places and kept it under $20 for groceries every week.
two weekends ago i went backpacking on a whim. it was such a whim that i found myself out in the backcountry with dead batteries in my headlamp, no pocket knife (to defend myself against the mean grizzly burrrs!), the wrong socks and no water filter. figured i'd get by ok with just moonlight but i'll be *'d if it wasn't a new moon, haha. that's ok, i saw plenty of shooting stars and made the obligatory selfish wishes. anyway by the end of the weekend i had hiked almost 16 miles with 5 blisters due to the sock mistake and had gotten the worst farmer tan sunburn style from hiking on bare ridgelines in a tank top. yet, i still had a total blast. think i might go hike the grayson highlands in virginia this weekend to see the wild pony herds. it's only an hour longer to drive.
my mom is so funny. i took her to dinner last week and she was like 'don't you get scared that there might be some drug addicts out there that will come and rob you at night?' i was like.. 'mom, i'm the guy everyone else is worried about'. but really, she actually thinks that coke addicts strap on their hiking boots and hike miles at night just to rob people. that absolutely kills me. oh, and she's finally admitting that i was right about Bush being completely detrimental to the country. so yes, some progress.
i've been doing alot of work on the house too. amongst the numerous little projects, i re-wired a few outlets this weekend so i could get all the living room lighting on the switch by the stairs and installed lighting for the backyard so i can walk up and out onto the golf course to watch the stars late at night without stubbing my poor toeses. yay to no more stubbed toeses!
oh, and for the record, i make better chai frappucinos than starbucks.
anticapitalize: i saw this poster print at hobby lobby last night, was a gorgeous nature scene in greens and blues, just beautiful in itself, but it was also a bit zen'ish
CBL: in what way?
anticapitalize: it had a quote by Lao-Tzu on it -
be content with what you have
rejoice in the way things are
when you realise there is nothing lacking
the world belongs to you
anticapitalize: and im thinking.. what a stupid quote to put on something you're trying to sell
CBL: heh damn right
anticapitalize: so. it's still there.
