Melon Field 2 [Yuri]

The forest north of the village stretches to the mountain ridge bordering the sea. But before the narrow mountain pass to the sea, before the end of the forest can quite be seen, there is a melon field. The land is a little hilly here, and the forest around it is uneven, but the field itself is perfectly leveled and square. Although interest in the ( Read more... )

Interesting.

Juudai stared at rainbow melon 1 for a long, long time. Were melons even supposed to be rainbow? It didn't really seem natural, but... no one else seemed to be questioning it.

And besides, everyone else was doing this, right?

He knelt beside it and rapped on it to get a feel for the physical properties of the melon.

It felt just like any other melon besides the shiny-shimmery-ness of its skin. Oh and the rainbow color of course. But other than that, just a melon sitting there as if just waiting for someone to figure it out and eat it... or not. It didn't exactly have a death wish. It was a melon.

...Or maybe it did have a death wish, because from what Juudai understood, the melons -- all of them -- were stubbornly refusing to open by normal means.

So, with a sigh, he figured it was time to start experimenting with it. Hoisting it up, he had a sudden, curious notion, and turned, deciding to chuck it almost randomly at rainbow melon 2.

The two melons collided and both bounced apart and rolled until coming to a stop, completely unscathed and shimmering just as they were before, just a little duller from a light coating of dirt on their skins from their travel.

However, one could assume that if a melon could express itself, they would be quite offended at the sudden unprovoked violence, but only if one could assume that.

Staring at the melon with unamused amber eyes, Juudai thought for a moment. He remembered hearing that one of the residents broke one earlier... but there didn't seem to be anything unusual about the way he had gone about doing it.

He kicked it around a bit, wondering if it had something to do with the shiny skin. Almost as though using it as a soccer ball, he suddenly punted it into red melon 2, the randomly chosen target, because he didn't really feel like chasing it down a hill. To be honest, he wasn't so sure the key had anything to do with violence at all, but he couldn't think of much else to try that wasn't downright humiliating.

The rainbow melon went sailing into the red melon, sitting unsuspectingly and both crashed together, but the impact did no damage to either melon. Instead they clonked together, bounced apart and then sat still in the dirt. If melons could they'd be mocking him for the ineffectiveness of his violence.

Sigh. Of course not. Juudai stared at them blankly for a moment, then stalked over to rainbow 1 and held it, examining it top to bottom again. He wracked his brain for ideas... maybe it really didn't have anything to do with how hard you hit it. Maybe because it was rainbow and the others weren't, the color was an indicator of some sort of difference.

Had anyone even broken one of these yet? He had no idea. But, he figured, he certainly wasn't having much luck here, where there was nothing to do but kick it around ineffectively. Deciding he might have better luck outside the patch, he started off back towards his apartment with it.

((OOC: Will reply again when I, uh... think of something else to do to the blasted thing, and thus proceed to do said thing outside the patch? XD))

The melon sat happily in his arms as it was taken on an adventure of its very own. Or maybe it just sat because that's what melons do.

(( OOC: No prob. Just link back to whatever you do outside of the patch or feel free to log it still here and just say what he's doing/where. ))

(( OOC: Assuming he left it alone by now for at least five minutes (since he is with Johan in another thread trying to break one) rainbow melon 1 has popped mysteriously back to the field. ))
