Melon Field 4 [Foxfire]

South of town is a thick forest. If Memento Eden were bound by logic -- which it isn't -- then the tall trees with their ring count would dictate that this is an ancient forest. The trees are so large and prosperous that they block out the sun, giving a haunted air to an already unusually silent wood. There is nothing growing on the forest ground, ( Read more... )

"I LOVE MELONS!" Bridget squealed as he scurried over to the melon patch. He heard they were unbreakable, but melons were delicious anyways! Plus, if he broke one he could share it with people! Like Florina. Ever more determined, Bridget stared at rainbow melon 4. They were so pretty and strange! Perhaps some sort of alien melon? Curiouser and curiouser, Bridget stared and staread...

...For quite a while.

Had melons eyes, this one would have stared back. But they do not. And it did not.

"It's so pretty! Oh well, gotta break it! Breaking things is manly! ...Right?" Looking around, Bridget saw a sharp rock. Grabbing it firmly in hand, he promptly stabbed at the melon.

All this melon abuse... Enough to make a grown squash cry, it is.

"Aww, I'm sorry, Melon!" Bridget, for whatever reason that shall be unbeknown to the rest of the world, suddenly felt guilty for poking the fruit with a rock. A fruit that was entirely unscathed, of course.

He gave the melon a hug! Because he's Bridget and, well, hugging a rainbow melon out of a guilt is a Bridget thing to do.

Melon is touched by the young lady's kindness. And shines. As always. One might detect a glimmer of well-wishing-ness, if one were the deranged sort who... well, talks to shiny colorful melons.

"Hmm..." Bridget thought to himself, trying to think of how to get into the pretty little melon. He idly pets the melon while doing so.

Aw. Bridget's a sweetheart like that. The melon... blanks.

"Is...is it even a melon, really?" Staring at the melon for a moment, Bridget then promptly bit it. Then licked it. Having heard Cheri's suggestion, kissed it. He lost his first kiss to a melon! Don't tell anyone.

"Hmm!" Bridget was beginning to believe that the rainbow-melons were the most unbreakable. Plus, they were the prettiest, so he was beginning to feel guilty about wanting to break it...

Taking Rainbow 4, he scurried over to the unaccompanied Green 3. He figured that, if he wanted to eat a melon (Eating melons was manly!) then he may as well do it to the normal-looking ones, not the super-pretty ones.

He decided to smack Rainbow 4 into Green 3 since, hey, the rainbow melon probably could handle it, anyways.

"Aww..." Bridget appeared genuinely disappointed. Perhaps the melons were not ripe or something. Or maybe they'd break when they felt good and ready? Deciding that to be the case--ignoring any sense that actually made--he figured he may as well take care of and befriend the melon race. Scurrying off and coming back with a pail filled with water, he watered Green 3 while sitting on Rainbow 4.

It seems to like that.

It's not giving up the goods, though.

Realizing the melon was in a horrible place for melons--since it was so dark, you know--Bridget scooped the two into his arms and scurried outside of the dark forest and plopped them onto the ground, right in the sunlight.
