there's a reason why certain people meet

Because I have a paper journal and I have been neglecting it ever since I got here--for the sole reason that I've simply just had no time--I feel slightly guilty that I am writing in this right now. But then again, I could always just print this and tape it in my paper journal. I know it's
like half-way old fashioned to have a paper journal. Practically outdated, I know. But I can't help it because it's something that I've always had ever since I was like 6. I just bought a new one at the end of the summer too. It's pretty. But yeah anyways. Wow I'm really tired, I don't really know what I'm doing this right now at this hour. Anyways, I moved into my dorm at Boston University on the 29th of August, which was a Wednesday. It was pretty awesome because my roommate had already moved in, and she picked the left side of the room. It worked out because I like the right side of the room better and it's the side that I'm always on. Her name is Yoojin and she's from Dallas, Texas, which is awesome because I've never met anyone from there.
She was doing FYSOP all week, so we didn't really get to bond until Saturday, which was when we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond with Dane and bought the coolest rug ever, along with the most awesome Harry Potter calendar ever. We are both slightly obsessed with Harry Potter, and at first, we were only joking when we said we were going to buy it, but then we decided that it was an awesome idea. So now it's smack in the middle of our room for everyone to see as soon as they walk into room 721 in the C Tower of Warren Towers Complex. We also have the privlage--and curse, I suppose--of having the room that is right in front of the door to the stairs. Whenever we're in the room, we always leave the door open so that people can come say hi if they're around. And we always look over when the door is opening and closing, which could end up being the biggest distraction ever once classes start, but whatever. I'm really glad that we got that because we met a lot of new people. Even though we may not be best friends with all of them, it'll be nice to have acquaintances.

Scarily enough, our room matches and we never even talked about it which I think is pretty awesome, but I'm just throwing that out there. She's got the stripes and I've got the polka dots and we both have colors that match each other. It's pretty amazing. Yoojin is a dancer and I'm a theater dork so it all works out.
Her side of the room is the more artsy side and it also has more clothes as you'll see. Mine is more boring, I guess, but I like our room. It's one of my favorite places on campus, I'm not gonna lie. It's comfortable and homey. A bunch of my friends from orientation have been hanging out in our room, and I'm really glad that I only stayed close with a couple of them because I learned that a lot of them annoy me. I've been hanging out with mostly Patrick [from San Francisco, CA who likes to get on my laptop and talk to people that he doesn't know], Jackie [from Connecticut], Fred [from Virginia whose real name is Sarah, but she thinks its too common and she hates it. Fred is her last name], and Dane [computer dork from Michigan].
But in addition to them, I've been hanging out with Dan [11th floor, Yoojin's friend who I met at the soccer game...without her surprisingly], Leo [FROM GREECE!!!!!], and Mark [from Aruba] when he's not being a pimp. I like the people that I've met so far. We've mostly been hanging out in mine and Yoojin's room because it's clearly the happening place to be. I love how Yoojin and I get along and love each other. I'm so glad that we ended up being roommates. We have separate groups of friends--that are slowly meshing into one group--and everyone is different. I love that our semi group isn't just like...clones of one another. I hate it when people are clones of one another, because really, what can you learn from someone who is exactly like you? But then again, I think it's a security issue. We were talking about that, how cliques have already formed and everyone in them is exactly the same, and why they feel the need to do that while we don't. I don't know. We were told that we were being too loud and that we had to close the door, though, because the RA's on call are assholes, basically. It was 10:30 and we were told we had to close the door because we were loud. Who would be sleeping at 10:30 on a holiday weekend, honestly?

Besides bitchy RA's on call, though, I've been having a lot of fun. There haven't been any wild parties. Yoojin went to an MIT frat party last night because they're supposed to be the best parties. It was a dry party because it's rush week and they're not allowed to have alcohol, but they invited all the BU kids after the BC soccer game. She said it was fun, even though it was a little sketch sometimes. Dan, Patrick, Jackie,
Fred, Leo, Mark, and I just hung out in my room while she was gone and then I passed out at 1. College in general as been a pretty fun experience and I'm really glad that I decided to come here. I was a little iffy about it for about two days, but then once I got here, I loved it. Yeah, there are a lot of people that act exactly like the people from home and I hate it, but there will always be those kinds of people, and at least then I know that the world is still going 'round. But for every one of those idiots that remind me of the idiots at home, there are like two or three awesome kids from really cool places that are so much fun to hang out with. I miss my best friends and my boyfriend [which is something that I can get through with a lot of people here. Dan has a girlfriend at a different college and Patrick has one all the way in California, and Jackie has a boyfriend in a different college so at least my friends can relate??], and I miss having my own bathroom [communal bathrooms are the worst thing known to man. I'm scared of the shower], but I absolutely love it here. I don't regret coming here at all. It's going to be an interesting year to say the least.

xoxo
