Changes Ahead
I was up late last night thinking. About my life. About my major. About my passions in life. And I have concluded that there need to be some changes.
This morning, I woke up at 9:00 (yes, it is a Saturday) to go to breakfast with my small group. We went to the Matthews Family Restaurant. It was Alyssa, Rhoda, and I because Carrie was still sleeping. :) While we were there, I discussed with them the things that had been on my mind all last night. They think I am on the right track. I talked with Jenna today and she is dropping her education major (thank heavens, it was killing her) and just going with an English Lit major, which will allow her the freedom to do what she really wants to do.
What do I really want to do? Help people. Write. Be a wife and mom. Those are my dreams. And being an English Writing major at this university isn't helping me get there. If I stay in this major, I'll learn how to write inside their little box. I'll have to compromise; conform. I can't do that. It goes against everything I believe. I'm discovering more and more that, while I am a writer (and always will be), I'm not an English Writing major...
