I got a call about an hour ago, from my next in line sister (that would be sister number one...well really I am number one...I mean firstborn....I'm not quite so narcissitic as to actually go around shouting that I"M NUMBER ONE) that she HAD HER BABY!!!!! a sweet little 6lb 13oz baby boy...dominic rolando. how spicy is THAT? my poor grrls..they have such cake-r names....her other daughter's name is jaymee (notice the fancy spelling) then my other sister (that would be #2) has some nice spicy kid names - miguel, mateo, eva (eh-vah...not eeeeeeeeeeeevah, latino, don't you know), and malachi. what do I have? shannon and kaitlyn...well...at least I can buy over-priced shit for them with their names on them.

this is quite exciting... little boy wasn't "expected" until the end of feb/ beginning of march (the 4th to be exact....for what THAT's worth...babies come when they're good and ready) I can't wait to see pics of him.

as if that wasn't enough excitement...about two hours before dominic joined us in the land of the living, sister* #3's HOUSE BURNED DOWN!!!! that's right. as she lay asleep, her house caught on fire.
from what sister #2 says, she woke up because she heard a "thump" and some annoying noise (the annoying noise turned out to be the smoke alarm that she had been sleeping through)..she thought nothing of it and rolled over..but the annoying noise wouldn't let her..so she opened her bedroom door to a house full of smoke.....couldn't get out the front, so she ran out the back door, to try to open the front (which was locked) to let her room mate that sleeps in the other end of the house know that shit had hit the fan....I guess he heard her banging the living fuck out of the door and ended up going out his bedroom window.

poor girl only got out with only her pajamas on...not even shoes...and if it wasn't for the fire fighters, she wouldn't have her purse or cell...they grabbed that shit for her - but it sounds like the house is written right off. gawd. I can only imagine...at least she has insurance.

I shudder to think what I would be writing now if #3 hadn't woken up...and it makes me glad that, thanks to these children, I am now a VERY VERY LIGHT SLEEPER.

yes...so if you take anything away from this, remember to put your photo negatives in a fire box, along with anything else that's important and WEAR SOME FUCKING PAJAMAS (this will be my new habit starting tonight, I suppose) to bed, because you never know.

*for the record...there are 5 of us..all girls, and I'm the oldest.but by no means the most opinionated
