42: The answer to life, the universe and how many days until ALEP II.

I am not in full scale panic mode, but I'm getting there. It has paralyzed me this week, actually. I've taken two days to put a zipper in, if that tells you anything. It usually takes me about 15 minutes.

I'm also freaking out about having the last bits of Celeborn's fabrics in time. I've been making orders at Silk Baron for the past three weeks or so for swatches and even snagged some stuff in their scrap sale at the end of July. But I'm waiting on some silver habotai yardage and another batch of dupioni swatches before I make my final decision on the obi/sash fabric. I have one here that I got in the scrap sale that's the right hue, but too saturated. If nothing else, I could always run it through some dye remover to lighten it up a bit. But I need two yards of it, thanks to how they decided to cut the sash perpendicular to the grain (which of course runs selvage to selvage). Why did they do that to me? I could have probably squeezed this out of the half yard I have if they had gone parallel. I know, it looks better against the obi, but damn it, that's another $36!

These are the materials for the elaborate narrow belt that sits on top of the obi:

The cording you see there is just for the back lacing. I plan on crocheting a very long single row of chain stitch to use as the cording that weaves in and out on the edges with the habotai bias as seen here:

By the way, I'm still working on that "buckle" design. *sigh*

This is the dupioni I have a half yard of along with the belt fabrics:

I just think it needs to be more muted:

Arwen's Angel gown is coming along nicely. I just need to put the overgown together and continue on with seemingly endless embroidery on the trim and then the endless beading for the trim as well as all those seed and bugle beads on the edges. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do that. I know I could just order the trim from M&J, but it's pricey ($10/yd and I need a LOT) and I already have a couple of kilos of the beads. I might just sew them onto twill tape and kill two birds with one stone. I'm going to need to edge at least the neckline in twill tape anyway to keep the stretch knit from stretching.

Arwen's Blood Red undergown needs some repairs and I think I'm finally going to add that gold braid trim on the edge of the bullion stuff. Shouldn't take much to get that done.

Arwen's Dream gown... *sigh*. It's hanging up in the doorway of the office with all my other costumes and pieces of costumes that I'm working on and every time I walk by it, I absolutely cringe at the hems. I really sucked at hems in 2008 when I did those. If I have time, I might pull them all out and do a rolled hem, since I seem to be able to do that now with some degree of success.

I made up my mind that I'm selling the lace front Arwen wig I got because I don't want to pay the 15% restocking fee plus shipping to return it. If anyone is interested, it's on eBay for what I paid for it plus shipping. If one of you wants it, I could wave shipping. Just let me know ahead of time and I'll adjust the price. It's a nice wig, just the wrong color. As soon as it sells, I'm going to turn around and buy one in the dark brown/medium auburn mix. I think that's about what my other one is and it works well for me, color wise.

Well, guess I better eat something before it's time to pick up Jonah from school.
